Barbeque Pork Ribs

Nov 28, 2009

Just got out of the hospital after one night and all day there.  Why you say, well me and my wife went to a local restaurant called The Grill.  I had some barbecue pork ribs.  I started feels bad about 40 minutes after eating them.  Then by 1/12 hours out I was in really bad shape.  I dumped bad on the ribs and also got stuck.  My wife called Dr. Warnock on his cell phone, me because at this point I was in so much pain I could not talk.  He said that Barbecue pork ribs are the worst thing a person with RNY could eat.  First the pork will not breakdown in the pouch, second the sauce makes all the meat clump together in the pouch blocking the stoma.  He told my wife to take me to the emergency room, and that he felt bad for me.
At the emergency room they gave me allot of morphine, some type of anti nausea and a strong muscle relaxer thru an IV.  The Dr. at the ER said he was trying to relax my pouch so the food would go down.  They repeated the medicines 3 more doses.  Made me drink a cup of water which I throw up.  After 2 hours of this they admitted me to the hospital.  The next day and after morphine all night an the next day at 10:30 a Dr. did a endoscope down my throat.  I was feeling better by this time.  He said whoever did my surgery did a great job, the best he ever seen.  No food was found in the pouch.  He said that the muscle relaxer probably worked overnight to let the meat pass.  At lease I have peace of mind that no food is still stuck and my surgery looks good.  I will not eat Barbecue Pork Ribs again.  Also I love Dr. Warnock, he is such a blessing.
