Update: It is one year and 2 months post surgery. I am doing great. 110lbs gone - hopefully never to come back AND am getting married in 6 months. This surgery, though difficult to go through, was a wonderful decision that I don't regret making. I went from wearing a size 24 to a size 8 in a year! I'll be thin for my wedding and will be able to look back on the pictures without shame. I am very thankful to my wonderful doctor for the work he did and cannot recommend him highly enough. If you are thinking of having this surgery, think it over carefully. It is a very painful and difficult procedure to go through, but if you have the stamina and know what you want AND are ready for the lifestyle change, then by all means, I encourage you to do it!

My surgery date is scheduled - it is December 16th. I have switched doctors to Dr. Michael Hocking out of Shands, Gainesville. He did an open RNY on both my sister and mother. Both with great success - my mom lost 255lbs my sister had her surgery in February and has already lost 100lbs!!! He is a great surgeon and has agreed to fit me into his busy schedule. Wish me luck - Soon I will be on the losing side!!
