Emory Johns Creek Hospital (COE)

"I rated everything as a good because the day time nurses were usually excellent and the night time nurses were usually average. "

J.K. Champion

"I thought I had the best bariatric surgeon in the country. He had performed a laprascopic procedure on the Discovery Channel on a man that was larger than me, so I felt sure that I could have the procedure done that way with him. I only had conversation with his office staff since I live near Kansas City, Missouri and his office is in Marietta , Georgia. I met him for an office visit on Monday before having my surgery on Tuesday. He was very knowledgeable and seemed extremely competent, but also very arrogant in his mannerisms. He performed my surgery on Tuesday in a remarkably fast time, I was told in recovery (although that could have been dreamt - I was pretty out of it!). The next day after my leak test, I was told I was very swollen and I ended up throwing up (not the last time, that's for sure) the barium. I stayed an extra day due to the bout of vomiting and went back to the hotel. I felt bad, sort of dizzy and weird that night and received a very curt answer at 8 am when I called his answering service (and he actually hung up on me). His staff's reply was to tell me how he answers all his pages himself, but I still was perturbed at his reaction - I had a 700 mile drive in front of me and I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something seriously wrong before we took off. All in all, I'm glad that I chose to have the procedure with Dr. Champion. I just think he could use a little work on his bedside manner and maybe a nurse could field his pages to determine severity first."
