I started this whole journey in hopes of becoming healthier and feeling better overall. Appearance was never one of my main objectives. I figured if I could lose 50 pounds, that would be sufficient to help me get off some of my prescription meds and help me enjoy life more. Well, here I sit fifteen months after my surgery and I have lost 120 pounds!! My BMI is in the normal range for the first time in my adult life. What a feeling!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how much this has impacted every aspect of my life. First and foremost, I achieved my goal of getting off most of the prescription meds - YAY! I have PCOS so anyone who is familiar can imagine how many pills there were. There are still pills in my daily routine but most of them are vitamins & supplements. I am able to go places and do things with my husband and kids and not be the eternal party pooper. I can go on long trips on the motorcycle (HD Ultra Classic) with my husband. Feeling better and consequently looking better, my self esteem and confidence are WAY better than they used to be. In my job, that is critical. These things are only the tip of the iceberg.

I have been very fortunate thus far. I have had no major problems along the way. I chose a wonderful surgeon and I thank her and her staff from the bottom of my heart. I know that they have helped me to make my quality of life FAR better going forward than it would have been otherwise. For this, I am eternally grateful.

Speaking of thanks, I have to take a minute to recognize the person that has been my pillar of strength - my husband of nearly 20 years. Without his love and support, I think my outcome would have been drastically different. My closest friends, Cheryl, Dee and Renee - thank you SO much for being such wonderful cheerleaders! I am blessed to have friends such as you in my life.

I could go on and on about how much better my life is, but I think I have said enough. You get the picture...
