My family nickname was always "chubby". I am the youngest of 12 children, born to Italian parents and raised on Staten Island in New York. I moved to Florida about 15 years ago to start a new life, and my parents lived here which was a bonus. I'm single, and at the moment I'm 43 years old. I have 6 brothers, none of whom are obese, and 3 living sisters (2 have passed) and only one other sister has a weight problem. My oldest sibling, my sister Maryann, had Down Syndrome and passed away on October 4, 2007. I can't believe it's been a year. I lost a part of my heart that day. She was and still is an angel. My other deceased sister was Rosemary and she was born before me and only lived for 5 hours, so I have two angels looking out for me. We're a large family in numbers, and I'm probably the largest in weight, at 233. My parents are 86 and 83 years of age, and depend on me since I am their only child living in Florida. They recently moved in to an Idependent Living facility 5 minutes from my house, and they are very happy. They had a hard life with 12 of us, and my sister who lived with them her whole life until she passed away last year. Now they are taking a well-deserved rest.
So that's my story. If any of you are prayers, please pray for me. My surgery is in November.
