Day 1 of Clear Liquid Diet Pre-Op
Dec 15, 2007
Well I'm in day one of my two day clear liquid diet. I'm a bit on the nervous side. I'm chilly, but there is snow on the ground. I'm not really dealing with much hunger. I've had a couple of mugs of chicken broth, some jello, and I've had 3 16oz bottles of water, oh and a minute maid light so far today. I'm thinking about going and taking a nap just to give my poor husband a break. I've been running around quite a bit this morning taking care of little things and I can tell I'm running him ragged. I want to get plenty of rest to help keep my nerves down as well. I am just ready for this to all be over. I want to get in there, have the surgery, and begin healing. I'm still excited, but mostly tired of the wait.
Surgery Date
Oct 09, 2007
It's finally set. I am going to be having surgery Monday; November 26 at noon. I have been fighting for this for so long, that I had not taken any time to think about surgery itself. I have to admit I am scared. I have a close relationship with God and my faith is ever strong, but I have concerns. I think my biggest concern is the anethesia. I use to be worried about being laid open, but that is no longer my worry. I want to wake up and I want to make it quick. I don't want my husband and family to be waiting on me worrying. I have been practicing some breathing exercises to help ease the stress and concerns that keep creeping up on me. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? What did you do about it?
Insurance Approval
Sep 14, 2007
I got some fabulous news Wednesday. The person reviewing my pre-authorization for approval called me Wednesday to let me know that I have been approved. When I got home from work, I had an email from the doctor's office telling me that I will be scheduled within the next couple of weeks. I am sooooo excited!! It's taken so long to get to this point. I feel like the difficult part is past me. I just have to get my scheduled date and finish preparing for surgery. I have done so much to get myself ready and to get approved, that I cannot imagine what else needs to be done. But I am READY!
Official Start of Journey is About to Begin
Aug 01, 2007
Today is August 1, 2007. Our insurance has finally kicked in. My husband and I both switched jobs and it took 90 days, but that day is finally here. We have gathered all the information necessary to send in for pre-approval. Unofficially I have been on a no starch diet for the past 18 days. I checked in with my primary care physician today and found out that I have lost 24 lbs. They only asked for 10 lbs. prior to a surgery date. The only starch I have been allowed is 1/2 cup of Fiber One cereal every day. That was to help with the constipation I was suffering. I have come up with many ways of enjoying this Fiber One. It wasn't exactly difficult enjoying it as a cereal since I've been having just meat and veggies.
We're hoping to get approval soon. Once I do I'll be sure to let everyone know. In the meantime you're all in my prayers and thoughts and I would love the same.
