I had my surgery on Sept 20.2006 via Kaiser. As of 7-13-07 I have lost 113 lbs since surgery, 160 lbs. total loss. I lost weight prior to surgery on a south-beach type diet that I designed myself. My only regret is that I didn't do this surgery sooner. My quality of life has improved dramatically. My reflux, arthritis pain, prediabetes and hypertension are all gone. I can do things that I avoided or couldn't do for years.
I'm an R.N. I have a Master's degree in Public Health. I had all of the knowledge about the health affects of obesity yet I still
became morbidly obese. I ate too much, craved sweets, and exercised little. As most overweight people I dieted over and over
but never kept the weight off. I was always gaining or losing weight, never, ever maintained weight. I loved food and still do. I like to shop for it, prepare it, think about it, taste it. But it isn't the center of my life anymore. It's wonderful!
