God, does this fight ever end? New Year and a New Start. Got a new Doc so hopefully things change.

Yup... it's true. I didn't originally mention it because... well..... I was scared that I would be told I didn't qualify. Good news! I did some research and found that with Scleroderma I don't qualify for the Lap-Band but I would for Roux-en Y or perhaps the DS.

I've got my first appointment with my Rheumatologist for the Scleroderma at The Arthritis Centre, Riverside Hospital. I feel a bit more confident talking with him as I did a lot of research for both Thyroid and Scleroderma. I've got references for him as well as articles and white papers that say good things (and some bad) on the RNY.

I hope as well to get a referral to a new Endroconologist as mine has since retired. They've opened up The Canadian Thyroid Foundation at the same clinic as my Rheumatologist so that will be so convenient.

If anyone has information that may help with my plea, please reply.

My name is Paula and I'm 46, 5'2" and 260 lbs. My BMI is 47.6 and if things don't change soon I'm sure I'll die. I'm a former model whose weight is so out of control that I don’t even recognize the “girl-in-the-mirror”. I now know of two (2) people from Ottawa, Ontario CANADA who has (is) undergoing Gastric Bypass in the US through OHIP and I hope I can as well.

I've had Hypothyroidism since I was 18 yrs old so I take Thyroid medication. I take Prevacide and Domperidone to prevent Acid Reflux. My doctor has told me I have "butter-milk" flowing through my veins due to high cholesterol so I also take Crestor and I now have arthritis. I had my Galbladder removed a year ago and I lack sleep due to Sleep Apnea. I'm total and utterly exhausted.

I'm active in the summer at the cottage swimming, kayaking, boating and playing with my nephews and in the winter I curl. I've got a very demanding career in Adult Learning Methodology and I'm self-employee to the Canadian Government aiding in the field of Training and Development. Although my career has not been affected by my excess weight due to good genes (Thanks to my Mother and Grandmother), I haven't dated in years. I'm willing to do anything.
