Hugh Houston

"I have been a paitence of Dr. Houston since April 2012. I was told in Oct. 2011 that I was to heavy at 472lbs by another WLS surgeon in Nashville. I was devastated and came home an started eating. In February of 2012,I walked into the Dr's office and stepped on the scale. The scale showed error. The nurse told me I was over 500 lbs. In the next few days Elizabeth called and asked if I was still interested in WLS. I told her what the other doctor told me about WLS. She said she would call me right back. Just in a few minutes Elizabeth called and told me Dr.Houston wanted to still see me.I set the appointment for April. When I first met Elizabeth in person you could tell she was passionate with people needing wls. I had lost down to 478 the day I saw Dr.Houston the first day. Dr.Houston explained all my options and answer all my questions. He even asked my wife several questions. We settle on a coarse of Acton and then Dr.Houston told me to meet with Holly to schedule a surgery date. I couldn't believe it. I told him what the other Doctor told me earlier about being to big for surgery. He told me to lose as much weight from now to the surgery day. He told me up front no guarantee of being able to do the surgery lyperscopic. I walked out of the office my wife asked me if I liked him. I asked her why she asked. She said you don't like doctors who are all business and so serious. So my wife and I asked one of the nurses about Dr houston and all she told me was if anything goes wrong Dr Houston is the person you want operating on you... Enought said... Dr Houston perform the surgery on July 17,2012. Everything went great and I was back in a room in a few hours. Dr Houston came in after the surgery and answer all my questions. I did have the lyperscopic surgery. I was home in 3 days because I lived 2.5 hours from Nashville. I went home on Friday and by Saturday morning I felt like I would bust open if I drank anymore water. I called Dr Houston number and left a message. He called back in less than 5 minutes. Sunday morning he called me to see how I was doing. Wow. Never had a Doctor to call me on his day off to check on me. Sunday about 5 I started hurting in my stomach an just figure I over did it at church. I got home and laid down and my wife wanted to cleaned my drain that was left in my stomach. She notice a foul smell and wanted me to call Dr Houston. I felt like a fool for bothering him on Saturday so I didn't want to bother him. My wife walk in the room about an hour later and said you call him now I can smell the infection as soon as I open the door. Again Dr Houston called Back in about 5 minutes. He said start toward Nashville and he would have a room waiting for me. Did some xrays to make sure no leaks, and started me on antibiotics. Do I blame him? NO. Infection happens. He was on top of the situation. The nurses in the hospital were awesome. They are so caring. Can't say enought good things about all the staff..... I would choose Dr Houston again in a heart beat. He has help me to restart living again. If your thinking about WLS call and talk to Dr.Houston. "
