Jim's Happy Rebirthday!

Jim wanted to let everyone know how his surgery went yesterday.  He was in the OR at 12:30.  After a very long anxious wait - Jim finally made it to his room in the ICU around 6:30 pm.  He is in ICU as a precaution because of his sleep apnea/asthma. 
 
Initially Jim was in a lot of pain.  They finally switched his pain medication around 9:30 pm.  And that did the trick.  Once his pain was under control, Jim was able to sit up.  He even stood and walked about 15 feet.  He is definitely very motivated and I'm so proud of him! 

On Friday he has to do the swallowing study to see if there are any leaks. If all goes well, we expect that he'll move to a regular room on Friday or Saturday.  Thank you for all of your prayers and support - you guys are great!   Helen (Jim's Angel)
