2 year anniversary
Apr 02, 2011
Story [ Edit ]
Hello Fellow VSG'ers. It's been a long time since I posted.I am sorry for that.Life
goes on I guess.Yesterday was my 2 year anniversary date.I am happy to say I have
maintained my current weight of 134 lbs. for one year 4 months and counting.I am able
to eat much more than I could even 5 months ago so I have really had to learn to listen
to my body and try not to go back to my old ways of eating "just for fun".I have put most of
my issues to rest and can say I finally am truly glad I had the surgery.I am feeling better.
My cholesterol is down,My body doesn't ache as bad and my blood pressure is down about
7-10 points systolic.I read that for every extra pound you carry, you put 4 lbs of pressure on
your knees. No wonder my knees were hurting! They still hurt some, but genetics play a role
in some of my health problems. My thiamine and vitamin D levels were a little low on my last
checkup.Still have my gallbladder which surprises me but am glad all the same.I am not
taking much for the gastric reflux and it has gotten better, but it still rears it's ugly head some-
times.I LOVE MY NEW WARDROBE,LET ME REPEAT LOVE IT!! I would cry when I had to shop
for clothes and hated hated summertime because I couldn't cover up the body I was so
ashamed of.I still do not have a bikini body but who cares?I don't wear a bikini everyday!I can go
to the closet and find a cute outfit pronto! No frustration! Thanks to all my Friends and posters whom
I leaned on during the tough times. You will not be forgotten, even if I don't post.Hope you are all
well and happy.Newbies feel free to message me if you want.Bye for now.

Turned a corner

Hi all,
It's been a while since I posted. So many things going on.Let me say I am
down 65lbs.I am at 137.I am happy at this point but would like to lose 10
more lbs.I am going to post some new pics soon.I am flabby and need to firm up.
I am ashamed to say I have been inconsistant with my exercise routine but am trying
to get in better shape for summer.I still have some issues with my tummy but am finally
not regretting having the surgery anymore. It wasn't an easy road for me,unfortunately.
But all is better now and I just want to enjoy myself.I have earned it!

Doing Better

Hi Oh friends,
I am dong better now.I feel like I have cleared a major hurdle.I had to start on some anti-anxiety/anti-
depression meds but they have helped a great deal.I am down 37 lbs.I can eat now without feeling
horrible.Now I just feel horrible for a little while.I can't wait til I can't "feel" my tummy.I have about
30-40 lbs to go.I pray everyday to get healthy and feel good.I can't believe the toll this surgery took on
me.I would have never believed it would happen to me if someone had told me before I had it.I am movin'
on and trying to turn negatives into positives. Thanks to all of you who supported me.I couldn't have made
it without you guys. You're the best.

POST OP
Apr 19, 2009
Hello,
Had my 2 week post op visit on April 16.They say I am healing slow.Maybe so.Got a case of thrush
that didn't help.I am still trying to knock it out.I am feeling better but notice I am getting weak due to some
muscle loss maybe or just the surgery.Still waiting for the A-ha moment when I will love my sleeve, not there yet.
I know it will come.CAN'T WAIT...

I had my surgery on April 1st.I am 4 days post op.Stayed in hospital 3 days.I needed it,too. It hurt like hell where
the drain site was. They pulled it on day 2 because I could barely get up it hurt so bad. Things got better after
that but it is still very hard getting in/out of bed and sitting/rising from chair. I started passing gas on the end of
day 2,that helped as well.I have been keeping my clear liquids down so far.It seems very hard to burp .I think my
stomach is growling now.I hope I CAN make it til day 8 which will be full liquid. YOO..HOOO...I just hope and pray I
will have a speedy recovery and no complications.I have not weighed yet as I know I am probally holding on to water
weight.

My Story
Mar 01, 2009
Hi, my name is Kim. I am scheduled to have VSG on April 1st.I have read many blogs here and I must
say it has helped me to feel better about the surgery.I have been fighting weight my whole life.
I am tired...you know? I want to be healthy! I am happy regardless of the weight but do not
want to end up like my mom who has diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and very bad knee
and hip pain from the excess weight she carried most of her adult life.I have never been as big
as she was,but I don't ever want to have to worry about it,either. So, any advice and encourage-
ment will be appreciated.I pray it is the right thing to do and I don't chicken out!
