Spoke with Dr. Borland today!
Feb 15, 2011
I spoke with Dr. Borland on the phone today. He was very personable and knowledgable. I was instantly at ease with his friendly, to-the-point conversational style. I am feeling more comfortable about making this decision to have weight loss surgery.I am internally struggling with a few things. One of them is fear of saggy skin and expensive future surgeries. I am going to exercise as much as I am able to. I wonder if herbal body wraps would help me, as well? There is a place in town which offers those. I will investigate.
The other thing I am struggling with is the thought that I may be giving up too easily to "do it myself" instead of getting surgery. I changed my diet completely in November to about 80% raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. I have lost 10-11 lbs. since then. I am depressed that I didn't lose more. My husband lost about 35 lbs. in the same period of time. I know: guys lose more quickly than girls do, but still! That is a HUGE gap. I really do think I have PCOS which is making this weight loss thing very slow-going. I have cramps in my ovaries and know that I have ovarian cysts there, because ultrasounds were done before I had a hysterectomy in '09, showing them. It's a daily struggle of me vs. food, beating myself up if I stray off the raw food path too much. Raw foodists are enthusiastic about this lifestyle because it's so healthy and has helped so many people lose weight, and I wish I had phenomenal results with it despite drinking green juices and smoothies every day and eating fruits and salads, but I just don't have super results. My chiropractor suggested eating ONLY vegetables. Are you joking? I cannot live like that. I am proud of the changed I've made, like getting off processed foods and Diet Coke, and I plan on still eating this way after surgey when my tummy has healed enough, and I hope the combination of the restriction with the healthy, raw diet will really expedite weight loss.
