Stall Continues

Mar 09, 2010

I've been trying my best to focus on the positive, but this stall is lasting forever!  I have finally stopped experiencing pains in my port site so I think I am going to start swimming again.

Any tricks on how to get over the stall would be greatly appreciated!

stall!

Feb 04, 2010

I have heard the horror stories, but had prayed it wouldn't happen to me.

I am in the midst of a stall.

It has been 3 weeks and I have not lost a pound.  I hope it doesn't continue for much longer.

Please email any strategies that have helped you get over the hump.

3 month lab results

Jan 22, 2010

I feel like I should have a drum roll for this.

I met with my Dr. today and went over my 3 month lab results.  The good news is that I am doing great!  I have been put on only one vitamen, B12.  I can handle that.  Everything else looks great.

My Dr's office's scale is totally messed up.  From my scale this morning till getting on their scale it looks like I gained 7 pounds. I am ignoring their scale.  I am going by mine and that is what I have used all along.

I go back in April for my second set of labs.

Updates on other fronts include:

-I had my first drink of alcohol.  I max out at one drink and am not drinking wine because it is too acidic and bothers my stomach.

-Planning a vacation in May for my anniversary to a resort in Cozumel.  Will I look slim at the beach?  Probably not, but I will look slimmer which is great.

-Found a high fiber, low carb bread for those moments I really want a turkey dog in a bun.

Had my first puke

Jan 11, 2010

I am sure this isn't a topic many of you want to discuss, but I think it is important.  Ever since my surgery I have heard horror stories about post opp puking.  Well, thanks to some really dry Chinese chicken I ate last night, I got over that fear.  I wasn't any different than before surgery and I felt so much better afterwards.  I also learned the importance of eating moist meat.

The holidays went well for me.  My DS allowed me to eat with freedom for the most part.  White flour is completely evil to my system.  I made sure that at each party I attended I ate a lot of cheese and turkey pepperoni.  Those are life savers for me.

To date I have gone from a size 22/24 to a size 18.  I can feel  my size 18's getting big on me.  Even after dropping around 60 pounds I haven't been able to look in the mirror and see a difference.  My friend Renee says she can tell and my mom says she can as well. I just wish my husband gave me a compliment every now and then.

Yesterday I went and have my labs drawn for my first round of checks.  I visit the Dr. on the 22nd for the results. My only fear is my protein as I am basically a vegitarian.  Since surgery I have tried to eat meat, but I can't do it.  My compromise is a little chicken and turkey.  Thank goodness for protein bars!

Can't beat the cold

Nov 18, 2009

I am still sick with this cold, but I realize it maybe more of a bacterial cold so I am starting an antibiotic.  I hope to feel better by Thanksgiving.

My first Thanksgiving after DS will be intereting.  My family has voted for seafood fest so I will have very few temptations.  I hate lobster and crab.

Getting over my cold...it actually helped me

Nov 10, 2009

I know this will sound odd, but I am getting over an upper respitory infection and I think it actually helped me.  Since surgery I have felt really drained.  Due to my cold I had to stay in bed and just rest.  Now that the cold is over I feel like my energy level have come back up.  I am not having nearly the swallowing issues I had before the cold.  I don't know if this is just because I am coming up on a month out or because I felt so lousy with my cold that now I feel great.

I have been doing pretty good sticking to the no carb diet.  I do sneak a chip or cracker every once in a while, but protein is my priority.

I made a decision not to tell anyone outside my immediate family about my surgery.  In my opinion it is a personal choice and a private choice.

Thanks for your support.

3 weeks out...lucky no major issues

Nov 03, 2009

I have read a lot on the boards about others having issues after DS surgery.  I'm not at 100%, but I am very happy I haven't had issues with a wound infection, bowel obstruction, etc.  I know what I am going through is normal thanks to all of you.

The lack of energy is really hard for me to accept.  I am a mult-tasking fool.  Now I get home from work and go to bed.  I have made my water consumption my #1 goal with protein close behind.   Housework can wait.  My health is more important.

Protein is hard for me.  I was taking the protein shots for a while, but the thought of them now make me nausious.  Ugg!  Boost is on my evil list as well.  I finally got my beneprotein in the mail and am hoping that helps.

Whoever said weight loss surgery was easy never went through it.
