My story is probably like a lot of others out there. I was the chubby kid throughout school. As I went up in grades I also went up in weight. In high school and college I would gain 30 pounds then lose 30 pounds. I had tried every diet out there just to fail in the end.
I got married in December of 2005 to my wonderful husband, Bobby. A few years later I had finished college, got a job and bought a house and things were going well. I was happy and content and as a result had gained good 45 pounds. My husband and I had started to try to have a family and in July of 2009 I found out that I was pregnant. 2 weeks later we lost the pregnancy and we were crushed! In the next 9 months I lost 8 more loved ones and started having some depression issues. I found myself trying to eat myself happy again.
My husband and I continued our attempts to have children and after a few years with no success we started fertilty treatments. Noting worked and I finally came to the reality my weight was effecting my ability to get pregnant. My OB doctor suggested gastric bypass and I initially shot it down as I had family that had it done with no success or major complicaitons. About 3 months later I returned to my doctor in the deepest depression that I had been in and agreed to look into weight loss surgery.
On January 6, 2012 I went to my first informational meeting and support group with my husband as my support person. After that evening my husband decided to jump in and have weight loss surgery as well. Our appointments went fast and most of them were done by the beginning of March. We met with the surgeon at the end of March and by April had recieved our approvals from the insurance company. My husband had his surgery May 1, 2012 and is doing well. My surgery was May 22, 2012.
I now know that weight loss surgery is the tool I need to get my life back on the right path and I am so grateful that my husband has decided to do it all along with me. I am truely blessed!
