Hi...I'm a 34 yr old who got sick of yo-yo dieting.  I had tried almost every "diet" before deciding on gastric bypass.  Even with my decision made I wasn't sure which surgery to have and went from wanting to have the lap band to having open gastric bypass.  In the end my decision was made for me because I had previously had reflux surgery and the lap surgeon said he couldn't do my surgery because of that so he referred me on to the open surgeon.  After having had 2 surgeries laproscopically I thought I handled my pain pretty good but when it came to the open, I was really hurting!  My whole hospital stay was hell.  I was soooo miserable and could never sleep.   All I did was walk circles around the floor.  I was in such pain and the morphine just made me feel sick.  I hated everything about my hospital stay other than my visitors.  I had met a lady here online that had the same Dr. and she had done fantastic with the surgery.  The highlight of my stay in the hospital was when she and her husband came to see me.  I truly think I was at my breaking point right before that.  God sends us angels when we need them most and she was mine.  It was so nice to talk to them as they had both had the surgery and I didn't feel so alone.
Fast forward 2 months later and I'm 37 lbs lighter and 41.5 inches smaller.  I am glad I had the surgery because I don't think I could have lost the weight AND kept it off otherwise.  In the past I was good at losing good chuncks of weight but the motivation to keep it off eluded me.  Now, I have my second chance and hope I use it wisely.  It is nice to come here and see that there are soo many of us striving to reach our goals and that we have this support system of people from all across the world.  Anyways...that's my story.
