Moving Forward

Jan 22, 2012

Out of the gates and running!!  I am nearly 7 weeks post-op from Roux-en-y on 12/6/11.  Surgery was tough and I really did have some pain, but after the 2nd week I really felt good.  I returned to my job after 3 weeks and the first week was tough, but after that it's gotten really easy.

I had a top weight of 258, 251 on the day I consulted with the surgeon, and was down to 245 on 12/6/11.  As of today I am at 213.  I feel amazing though I am suddenly having some problems with vomiting and nausea.  Maybe a stricture?  We'll see how it goes.  I really hate to take off work for anything, but I kind of feel that fluids are more important seeing as I can't live without them.

My outlook on food has changed.  I find it kind of amusing how hard I thought the pre-op diet was now!  About 2 weeks after my surgery I became depressed and angry about my choice, I missed my foods.  Now, I enjoy the taste of food, but it's not a big deal for me anymore.  I no longer crave pizza or Diet Coke, two things I didn't think I would be able to live without.

My old size 18 jeans are on this body with some room to spare, and that feels amazing.  It was sort of strange that my mindset was that I couldn't fit into those pants as I pulled them out of the closet, but tried anyway and they fit me just fine.  I'm not really sure when my mind will understand that I don't wear a 22 anymore, but I hope it will come.

I'm so excited for my birthday at the end of April.  I can't help but wonder where I'll be in this journey, how will my body and attitude will have changed, will any of my relationships with people around me have changed?  Either way, I'm certainly looking forward to it and can't wait to get there!!!
