I had Lap band surgery on April 26, 2006 with Dr. Artuso. My insurance denied me so many times, I decided to self pay, and fight later. This was the ebst dicesion I ever made, because in Dec 2006, I have lost 75 pounds, and I feel like a new person. I would like to still loose another 25-30, as I weigh 195 pounds at 5'4".
Insurance wise, I have constantly fought Guardian Life, as they have a unique definition of obese. Anyway, to date, I have received $12,903 from the insurance and I am still trying for more. They said everyhting from the Dr has been considered, so I asked the hospitol for an itemized bill. Now it looks like another $1500 or so is covered.
I am very lucky, no problems to report. I seldom vomit, as when I get the pain, I stop eating. I did begin getting some rashes, under the hanging tummy, which my group said is fungal and to have the Dr document it. I guess if you want the excess skin removed, with insurance coverage, you need a medical reason. I am not sure I iwll do that, let's see how it goes.
