Leg Pain

Jul 02, 2010

Grrrrr I am getting more then frustrated, not with the weight loss thats going well at 2 months out I had already lost 65 lbs. Not sure how much more now but I do know im losing. But as far as the exercise im at a standstill.
After my surgery I had noticed that I was getting pains in my right leg, I mentioned this to my personal doctor who referred me to an orthopdeist. Becuase I had said the pain went from my hip to the ankle they automatically decided it was the hip and only xrayed it, then the doctor told me I had tendernitis and sent me for therapy.
After 2 weeks of therapy my condition was getting worse and I realized it was the knee that was giving me trouble, at this point i can hardly walk on the leg and the cane the therapist had suggested I use wasnt much help.
Now the ortho has decided I must have a tear in my knee told me to use and walker for now and to get an mri, which I have scheduled for next wensday.  Now I cant walk very far without being in pain and I need help getting in and out of my house every morning to go to work because of the front stairs. Oh well heres hoping after the mri they finally find out whats going on and get it fixed.

From The Mouths of Babes

I have always hated how I look, had problems as a child when I was the one picked on in school (although as a younger child I didnt have a weight problem) but it was during that time that I started gaining weight which would be the pattern for me the rest of my life.
Although I did lose weight before I got married and looked pretty damn good, but when I got pregnant with my first child I gained 85 lbs and that was the beginning of my journey to being morbidly obese. In the past couple of years I have developed Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholestrial and I found out after my surgery that my liver was diseased and very large.
On top of being so large I was also a smoker, to which my surgeon has said absolutely NO more smoking, which I intend to follow since I didnt go through all of this just to have a cigerette kill me.
Although my regular doctor and I had discussed wls briefly a few times it wasnt until my daughter asked me to lose a few lbs for her wedding which is in August of 2011 that I finally decided it was time to take care of this problem, after she gets married shes planning to start her family and I want to be able to play an active part in my grandchildrens lives.
By the way none of my kids had EVER said anything to me about my weight so therefore by her asking me to lose a few pounds it didnt bother me whatsoever, as a matter of fact I feel that since my liver was so bad that by asking me to lose the weight she probably saved my life.
Im 3 weeks out of surgery, having lost 15lbs so far and feeling pretty good, yes im tired and have some aches and pains (gas) but all in all feeling pretty good and especially feeling great about this decision.
I can breath alot better (already) and im walking faster then I was before.
I go back to my surgeon tomorrow and hoping for the mushy diet, jello just aint doing it anymore lol (although last week he did give me yogurt to which i am eternally grateful). But even with the diet restrictions If i had it all to do again I definately would.
