Post Op Day Two--Thursday
Jul 16, 2015
Yes, I definitely feel different now. I didn't have nearly as much pain as I have in the last few days. Don't get me wrong, I still hurt, but I am feeling much better and my head is in the game. I was able to eat a small breakfast (3 oz of protein powder), snack, lunch, dinner and another snack--all consisting of about 3-4 oz of either soup, protein shake or yogurt. I'm still working on getting all of my water in, but I will keep working on that. I do have some nausea, but that is improving, also. Regrets now? Nope!
Post Op Day One
Jul 16, 2015
Yes, the jury is still out. I had a heck of a time getting in and out of bed. The best advice I got was to keep breathing when I got up or sat down. This really helped. I thought it would never stop hurting. I did get to go home on Wednesday. Spent a lot of time sleeping at the hospital and at home. I took a pain pill and went to bed at 9:00 and woke up at 6:30 the next morning--feeling good!!!
Surgery Day
Jul 16, 2015
Tuesday was surgery day!! I was nervous, happy, excited and scared all at the same time. We started by getting up at 4:00 in the morning (I was up at 3:00 am--too nervous to sleep!) We reached the hospital for 6:00 and I checked in to the office. I started by getting my weight, changed into my gown and finished all pre-op work. The chaplain came in to offer a prayer for a safe and successful surgery--it really helped me to be calm and it was a lovely prayer. Then, I was visited by Bob the Massage man, who gave my a wonderful next and shoulder massage prior to surgery. I was introduced to my anesthesiologist and met with my physician for one last time. They wheeled me in, put me on the table and the lights were out!!
I woke up after the procedure and asked if I was ok. They said all went well and I did a great job. I told them that I only came in for a mole removal and they laughed at my joke. I was wheeled into my room and was able to see my wonderful family. I was in quite a bit of pain, but they said that it will be hard for the first couple of days. It was. I spent a lot of the time sleeping. Getting out of bed was very painful and I dreaded having to do it. I questioned my decision, but the nurses said I was doing very well. Was this the right thing to do?
Pre-Surgery Liquid Diet Day One and Two
Jul 16, 2015
Finally, the start was here! I started the first two days with a clear liquid diet prescribed by my doctor. I could only have jello, iced tea, or any other clear liquids. Sunday was rough. I was hungry, headache-y and had no energy. I spent the morning at a flea market to get eating off of my mind--did you know that brats and hamburger smells can waft so far into the air??? Ugghh, but I made it through. The next day was much easier. I was not nearly as hungry and kept myself busy all day long with shopping, cleaning and volunteering at the basketball game. Overall, I had a pretty good experience with this. Tuesday (surgery day) was on the horizon!
