3 months post op, -60 lbs!

Aug 20, 2013

Three months post op and having a great summer.  The hip and lower back pain kicks up once in a while, but not near as much as it used to.  I'm down 60 lbs from my March 27th weigh in.   It is different to go into a regular store that is not LB and find cute clothes that are XL.  I'm so used to grabbing XXL mens or XXXL womens.

I am really starting to notice the loss in my hips and thighs now.  The first couple months it was all the upper torso and face area.  My bra size decreased rapidly.  Now it's finally working on my lower level.  I'm into a size 18 pant, tight, but I can wear them.  20 is just a bit big, especially if they are jeans that stretch by the end of the day, I'm constantly pulling them up.

In July I went to Whidbey Island and it was enjoyable to walk the dogs and even stroll through stores without pain in my feet, knees, hips, and lower back.

By August 7th I was in Vegas and I didn't get tired at all walking the strip in 100 degree heat.  It was enjoyable with very little sweating.  I love the hot weather though.

Next month I will be visiting Sherman County to see my family.  I haven't seen them since February, when I was at my very heaviest.  I think they will be in shock to see the dramatic change in my size, hair, coloring, and overall happiness.

This was well worth the time, effort, and money to get a life I never knew I was missing.

23 days post op and 30 lbs down!

Jun 05, 2013

YAY!  I can't believe I'm down 30 lbs already.  I feel an immediate relief already in my hips, ankles, and knees.  I've been able to walk at least 1 mile everyday with my dogs.  Feels good to be out among the living again.  I am slowly getting to work in my yard.  My yard and the dogs are my favorite hobbies.  I am very blessed for my best friends and my nephew for planting and mowing so far.

I am no longer suffering from the cold hands/feet syndrome.  That must have been the anesthestic, however it was almost 80 degrees today in the Seattle area.  So that makes it very nice!

I started back to work 1/2 days this week.  I ended up only working three of those four days.  One of those days inbetween I got very bad indigestion, vomiting, and then a migraine.  Once I got myself to sleep, I slept 10 hours, was up for about 4, then slept another 4 hours.  I think sleeping 14 hours within a 24 hr period maybe mean I was a bit tired too!  I go back full time this Friday, 8 hrs days, for 5 days, and no overtime allowed.  I am on graves right now, but will be switching back to Swings June 16.  It will be nice to have some normalacy back into my life by being on swings again.  Graves is hard on my body, my mind, and my habits.  I love the people I work with, but it is just too hard for me to exist on those hours.

10 days post op

May 23, 2013

I am FREEZING!  I guess this is a normal side effect from Genera Anesthetic.  I have a heating pad at the foot of my bed to keep my feet warm, with socks, and a 100lb yellow lab on them!  I tend to get tired easily still.  I have no pain at all.  I get the hiccups when I eat too fast or too much.  I have vomited a couple times from the hiccups, but nothing serious.

Emotionally I feel depressed.  Mainly because my bff flew back to NC on Sunday and I'm by myself.  I have a very short fuse and am impatient with myself.  I think because I have such a high tolerance for pain, that I feel like I should be doing more, until I try something and feel the "pull" in my abdomen, a gentle reminder to drop everything and walk on!  It is hard being 4 hrs from my family.  I had tried to figure out how I could go see them for the holiday weekend, but that isn't going to happen.  It is too much for me to do 10 days post op...another reminder that I'm to take it easy.  Just a bit homesick I guess....

Thursday~ 3 days post op

May 15, 2013

I had surgery on Monday morning~ My weight was 292.  I came home on Tuesday afternoon.  My Best Friend is here from North Carolina taking care of me.  I feel very good.  I am sore from the 6 incisions they made in my tummy for the laparoscopic surgery, a little nausea, but other than that I am recovering nicely.  I've gone on a couple car rides and very short walks.  Trying to get the "gas" to expell itself out of my abdomen.  That is the most uncomfortable part, the gas that was used to blow up my abdomen for the surgery kind of centered in my mid to upper back, shoulder, and base of my neck.  That was more uncomfortable for me than anything, but it is moving out...sloooooowww but sure!

This week I am trying to make sure I stay hydrated.  Next week I will focus more on the protein.  One day at a time and it'll slowly fall into place.  At least I hope so before I go back to work!

Waiting for surgery preauthorization~

Apr 22, 2013

It's taken SIX months to get to this point!  I had my last dietician appt last Friday, my surgeon's office is submitting my paperwork to insurance, and my tentative surgery date is May 13th!  Going thru the six months was training ground to create the dicipline I needed to become Healthy and successful in my WL goals.  At the time it seemed like forever, but now that I'm nearing the actual date it's seems like its flown by!

I am really excited and looking forward to feeling better physically and about myself socially.

Any tips to what types of protein drinks pre/post-op?
