DS 4 years post surgery- Loving Life!

Nov 10, 2016

My DS was 4 years ago. I am now 36, 5'10'', and weigh from 165-173 (my weight can fluctuate). I got to about 343 prior to surgery and was miserable. Having the DS was the BEST decision I could have made for myself. Four years later, I have fun shopping, enjoy life to the fullest, and see the world in a completely different light.

I honstly cannot believe that it has been so long. Being morbidly obese seems like a shadow in my past that can sometimes be hard to remember. Who I am today is who I have always been. I have always been a confident, opinionated person. I have a great heart and do not judge people. After losing weight, it just helps me live the life I always should have. Now, I am a healthier, more confident, positive version of myself.

Since my weight loss surgery, I got rid of a lot of the negativity in my life. Some was self-inflicted, and some was placed on me by those that could not possibly understand the struggle that I had while being heavy. The normal things in life were difficult for me to do (like walking, working out, shopping, even tying my shoes). I got rid of a lot of the negative people in my life, my old bad habits of overeating when stressed or feeling down, and even changed my career path. Life just makes sense to me now!

The weight-loss journey was a long and often difficult one. Having weight loss surgery was a tool that helped me reach my weight loss goals. I will forever be appreciative. Though it was a long time ago, I am proud of the success that I have had. I am proud that I decided to work hard to reach my goals. The hard work made be better, and it made me stronger.

I encourage anyone that is in the middle of their struggle to keep pushing. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it feels GREAT to be out here in the sunshine!
