2 year anniversary

Sep 04, 2012

Hello again!

Here I am, 2 years out!  I am so very happy that I had my sleeve done!  I know (without a doubt) that if I had not had this surgery I would have gained 50 more pounds.

First of all, I am still at the same weight, more or less, as I was a year ago.  I fluctuate plus and minus 5-7 lbs.  This has caused me some happiness and some concern!  I really wanted to have lost 100 lbs, but I'm at about 55 lbs.  Recently I have come to the realization that somehow or other, I fell through the cracks for follow up!  Where I should have been seeing my doctor every few months, I was out there on my own!  Same goes for the dietician.  One thing I was doing right was seeing a psychologist.

So, I made an appointment with both my doctor and my dietician.  I do not want to gain the weight back, and I want to lose even more.  So they have helped me figure out what I need to do to move forward.  I looked at what I ate a year ago, and can't believe I was eating GrapeNuts!  I'm shaking my head!  Here is what I am eating now (typical day):

Breakfast - 1 egg, with thin slice ham chopped up in it.  Plus 1 Tbsp grated cheese.

Lunch - home made soup, with chicken, beans and veggies in it.  (I eat the substance and usually throw out the liquid that is left)

Snack - Beanitos chips with plain Greek yogurt (with Ranch powder mixed in)

Dinner - Meat (chicken, beef, fish) plus vegetable.

I snack on grapes, sugar free popcycles, and Adkins bars.

Still a work in progress.  My food issues did not disappear.  But now I have a great tool that keeps me from over eating (sleeve)!

Did you notice that there were hardly any carbs in my diet now.  I have come to realize that carbs = crack!  I'm so addicted to carbs that I really really have to stay away from them.  So, whenever I'm tempted I ask myself if I want to derail where I ma right now.  So far the answer has been 'no'!

I've also done well with the 'no carbonated drinks' rule.  I don't miss them.  I was drinking a lot of iced tea, with splenda... and found myself very dehydrated.  So now I allow 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning and the rest of the day it's just water.

Right now I am struggling to get back into the active mode.  I was doing so well for awhile.  But I fell off the wagon and boy is it hard to get back on.  But I will!  It's been so hot (over 100 degrees) and that is my excuse.

I hope that this is helpful to someone.  Best wishes and God bless you as you go forward with your weight loss journey!

Diane
