Admittedly i'm not exercizing much these days BUT am getting in my protein, water & vitamins.

Annual Exam with PCP

Sep 04, 2007

I'm 193 lbs!

I'm excited - have been a little dehydrated lately, so I need to work on the basics - water, protein & vitams.

Just got back from Vegas!

Aug 26, 2007

I'm at 201 lbs!

I hope this week to drop below 200. I haven't been eating well though and haven't been taking my vitamins, but hope to get back on track.

I'm single, living in my own apartment and away from home - so I'm still trying to get in a good, healthy routine while adjusting to a new environment.

Happy 4th of July!

Jul 04, 2007

I've uploaded pics of me in liz claiborne, size 16 Jeans and a 1X top. I feel good about no longer being held hostage by Lane Bryant! These were purchased on clearance at Dillard's. It's amazing, how nice quality clothes feel.

Mentally - I'm not where I want to be.

The other day I e-mailed photographs to my brother. He said, "How does it feel to be skinny?"  My reply, "I was super fat, now I'm just fat AND I don't think I'll ever be skinny."

I still don't see the weight loss when I look in a mirror. I see flabby arms, a sagging belly and droopy thighs.

I struggle daily with exercise. However my mindset is better than it ever was in my dieting days. My thoughts when I fall of the wagon, neglect to get in my protein are - - I will continue to try to do better, instead of the old "I failed attitude - - so I may as just give up trying to be a healthier person."

My doctor said something to me a few months ago - - after a year, the honeymoon of the weightloss is over. I'm dreading my 1 year because then I know it will all be harder - to continue to try & lose and to continue and maintain a healthier quality of life.

But I'll keep trying!

I'm a size 20!

I still don't see a difference when I look in the mirror - I hope that will change soon!

10 days away from 6 months Post Op

May 20, 2007

I know the mantras - - "it's a tool", yadda yadda...but I finally believe it. I've put a lot of work into my weight loss and when I talk to people about it - they think, you had the surgery, and you had to do nothign else!

In earnest, I've begun exercisizing regulary. I'm committing to myself to exercize at least 7 hours per week. I may skip a day but will make it up with an extra hour the following day.

My typical exercize routine is 1 hour on the treadmill, 30 minutes using weight machines. My speed on the treadmill is about 3.6 & I'm doing about a 3.5 incline. I've beginning throwing in a few minutes of actual jogging, as opposed to fast walking, and hope I can do this regularily to workout harder in a shorter amount of time.

Even after losing 88 lbs, I still feel the same. I have my good days & bad days but I think now I get back on track sooner than I used to when I'd fall of the wagon when I was dieting.

12/08/2006 10-Day week follow up

Dec 09, 2006

I had my staples & drainage tube removed - which means I can really jump into exercising next week. I'm going to do Curves at least 3 times per week and then also try & do 30 minutes on the treadmill at the apartments at least 5 times.

At the doctor's office, I was weighed & am down to 291 lbs.  I won't get too excited until I'm at least down to 250 - - over the years, when I've dieted I could never break the 250 mark, so that's my 1st goal.

Wishing you all the best this holiday!

5 Days post op Update!

Dec 03, 2006

News Flash: I went into surgery 17.5 lbs down due to my liquid diet!

Up Ahead: I'm going tomorrow just 4 days out from being discharged from the hospital. 1 - I feel great, have had no complications. 2 - I don't have a lot of vacation time and my mother's coming for Christmas and I'd like to spend a few days with her.

I'm surprised that I have yet to read an account where someone says it hurt on the night/first morning after the surgery. I couldn't sleep due to what I learned was gas in my belly and the nightshift nurse made me feel too guilty when I asked for pain medication.

I felt 1000x better once I slept in my own bed and truly felt that the hospital was keeping me sick. Before the surgery I had a cold & cough that I thought was going to postpone my feeling better. I'd go to sleep and the cool air was making me more and more congested which would then drip down into my throat making me nauseaus.

I still have a little cough and hope to be better soon.

This weekend I read Susan Maria Leach's book Before & After, which was really positive & encouraging - let me know what to expect, as far as eating choices and really spelled it out to me that I am in charge of my destiny - - I will be the one determining whether or not I will make WLS work for me and dispite one bout of regurgitation I'm still encouraged.

Update - I've got a date!

It's been a whirlwind:

11/03/06
I called my doctor's office to make sure they received my package, they told me they had been faxing things to the insurance company for the past couple of days and that they'd know TODAY if I'd be approved but that they anticipated I would and scheduled me for surgery 11/28/06.
I got a voice-mail at 4:00 PM indicating I was approved!!

11/09/06

I had my pre-op appointment with the hospital. Had the usual blood & urine tests, EKG and went through an educational class with the bariatric nurse.

On Tuesday 11/14/06 I start my 2 week liquid diet, I'm nervous about this but I promise to be strong.

Oct 29, 2006

Submitted packet to Dr. Kim's office to review for referral for bariatric surgery.

I'm nervous - I've been dreaming about not getting approved.
