2 year surgiversary!

Mar 14, 2010

Can't believe I let yesterday  (13th) pass without thinking about my anniversary!  I don't post much, everyone seems to be on FB now.  I am still happy I had this surgery, and am doing fine.  I eat anything I want, just less of it!  I must say, grazing is my problem now, I am always thinking about munching and need to keep the junk out of my house. A little sugar doesn't bother me, but too much will make my dump. Sometimes I eat too fast, and I will get sick from that.  I have gained about 4 lbs., not obsessed with the scale like I used to be, but need to keep my weight in check, so when I think about it I will step on.  I used to go up and down 2-3 lbs. but not seem to stay at one weight.  I see myself eating like I used to, the same old bad habits. Gotta stop that!

Anyway, I would recommend this surgery to anyone considering it, I had no problems.  Just stick with the rules!

One Year Anniversary!

Mar 13, 2009

Today I celebrate one year since surgery.  I went for my check up last week and everything was good. Today I have lost 112 lbs., with 23 to goal.  It has been a good journey and I appreciate all my friends on the board and it's been fun doing this together!  The year has really gone by fast, it's hard to believe, but it has been a good year! I love my RNY and wouldn't hestiate to recommend it to anyone. I haven't had any problems yet, and hope I don't!  I wonder what it is going to be like a year from now. I hope I can get some plastics done, cause the loose skin is bad,  to me, it's something I didn't really think about before. It hangs everywhere! I think I thot I would only need a tummy tuck, but I need a body tuck!

Before I wore size 2x & 3X and now I can wear size 12's and large -medium clothes.  So the bargains I got last summer clearance should fit me now!  The weight is coming off really slow, but I am satisfied, and don't fret when the scale isn't moving.  I did that alot in the beginning, but it will come off!

Last nite I went to dinner with my sister, and when I told her how much I weighed, she  BOO HOOED and said, "When is the last time you weighed less than me?" She has always been slim, now I'm slimmer!!! It's a great feeling!!!!!  I've had alot of support from my family and DH has really helped me along the way. He says I look like the young, skinny thing he married! Now, that makes me feel good!

Moving Again

Feb 05, 2009

Last week I weighed in at 178, yesterday, I was up to 181, so I wondered what is up with this! I knew the day before I had slacked on the water.... coffee I was getting in!  So yesterday I made sure I drank plenty of water!  So, guess what?? I am down to 175 this morning!  Maybe my slow loss is due to not getting my water in!   Will have to make a conscious effort to get plenty of water in!!!
Could this be the cause of several of my gal pals NOT losing?  They are working out like crazy, and I am currently slacking in that department!  I don't know, could it be the fluids???  Hmmm, just wondering.
Only 25 lbs. to goal!

Barely movin'

Jan 30, 2009

It's been a month since I posted and have only lost 5 lbs., but that's a total of 106 lbs. gone.  I am feeling great, and have so much energy.  I am kinda lazy in the workout department, but do enjoy walking. I have 29 lbs. to goal, but don't really want to be that skinny. I bought size 12 shorts the other day and they fit good now, so they may be  too big this summer!  Maybe if we go on a cruise in March, I can use them! I am even comfortable in boots and heels, which would have killed me before. I always went for the comfy shoes.  Now I can go for the cute ones! Same with clothes!
The kids were all just home for late Christmas with Jake, and we had a wonderful time. He was so good! I think I will be able to keep up with him when he gets to running around! They grow up so fast!
Just wanted to post that I feel so much better and am so glad I did this! AND that the friends I have met here thru this process have been great, and the support is wonderful. It just really helps to post with others that have been thru this! I always highly recommend this site to anyone considering the RNY!

101 LBS. GONE!

Dec 26, 2008

At 9 1/2 months out I have lost 101 lbs.!  I am NOT OBESE anymore, only overweight!  The weight loss has really slowed down, but this morning I was down 3 lbs. from yesterday. Even all the sugar and crap I ate over the holidays didn't seem to effect me too bad. I have to get back on track now and stay on the right path so my loss will continue! I weigh 184 now and am 34 lbs. from the goal Dr. Lord set for me, but will be happy losing 20-25 more.  I was losing about 10 lbs. a month and now am down to averaging about 5.  I know I complained from the beginning about the slow loss, but am happy now, because I realized that it was gonna move slow and that is fine with me.

8 month update

Nov 14, 2008

I am doing well, with 92 lbs. gone, forever!  I need to do measurements, as my weight loss has slowed down.  Just got back from 2 1/2 weeks in Baltimore with my son Scott, his wife, and my first grandson Jake. I kept him a week while she went back to work, and it was just a great time. I hated to have to leave him up there! I even managed to lose 5 lbs. while gone and another since I came back on the 9th. I did some shopping at a couple Goodwill stores there, and they really have some nice stuff! I got a wool blazer, Bill Blass, Liz and Lee jeans and a couple nice summer purses. I don't even to bother looking at clothes here (at GW), don't know why!
I had a terrible time getting home! There was plane trouble in Baltimore, so we had to change planes and gates, left 2 hrs. late, missed connection in Atlanta cause it was the last one that nite. So they put us up in motel and got flight at 10 Sunday morning, but traffic was so bad, we were an hr. late leaving there! I was anxious to get home, since I hadn't seen DH for 1 1/2 wks!   So I finally got caught up on laundry, but am having trouble adjusting to the time change, since I lost an hr. going there, day light savings time started, so went back an hr., then we I got home had to go back another hr. Seems like jet lag! I fall asleep at 8:30 or 9 every nite and wake up at 5 am!  Don't know how long it will take to get back to normal!

7 month update

Oct 13, 2008

Today I am 7 months out and just hit ONEderland this morning! I never posted on my 6 month date, so will update that now. My checkup went great, all my bloodwork was fine, cholesteral was a tad high, but Dr. L said he wouldn't treat it, asked my if I had been eating alot of shrimp (I had!).  Yes, so far, I am glad I did this, it had been an interesting ride. I can eat anything, just in small amounts, which is how I looked at this ride to begin with. Didn't want to be on "a diet" for the rest of my life, but I think I usually make pretty good choices. I do indulge in a treat now and then, but can only handle a couple bites, and that is all I need!
I want to add that I have really enjoyed meeting everyone on the SH board, and it has been fun meeting at the support groups and occassionally dinner. They are a great bunch, and I have appreciated their support!  It has been nice being with a group that have been through the same thing I have, everyone knows what's going on and can relate to everything!
Sometimes I say to myself "I really can't believe I did this to myself and took this step! It is a big decision to make, and it took me over three years of research to finally come to it! But I want to say I am glad I did!"
Will post a current photo this afternoon!

5 months, 1 week out

Aug 19, 2008

As of today I have lost 70 lbs. over halfway to my goal.  I LOVE MY RNY! Now I see why people say that! We just got back Sat. from Baltimore, where our first grandbaby was born. It was so exciting to be there. We got there Sunday around noon and Jen went to the hospital at 2 am the next morning! She was 3 days early, and her timing couldn't have been better! She has a c-section so had to stay in the hospital longer. After she got home I helped her get Jake settled during the nite after his feeding. She is new at this and very anxious, so I was happy to help all I could. She didn't want me to leave! And I didn't want to, I hate that they live so far away, a 16 hr. drive. DH told me I could fly up there any time I want to. We have already gotten tickets for the end of October!  We did manage to go to Philiadelphia one day and Annapolis another day, and stopped on the way home in Ft. Payne to do some antiquing. We saw a lot of historic stuff and the weather was wonderful, like Fall. We love riding in the back raods up there, there are old-old farms, barns, beautiful rolling hills, and gorgeous countrysides, things you just don't see here.

Inches Lost

Jul 15, 2008

At 4 months out, I have lost a total of 40 inches!  I remembered to measure just before surgery!

4 Months out

Jul 15, 2008

Sunday, July 13th, I was 4 months out from surgery, and have lost 59 lbs.  It still seems like a slow-go to me, I thought I would lose more weight than I am by now, but have just decided to go with the flow, and it will eventually come off. I am following all the rules, but could probably exercise more. The rain has kept me out of the pool the last week, but have ridden my bike and walked some.  In almost 2 weeks we will head to Baltimore awaiting the birth of our first grandbady,(boy), so we are filled with excitement!
