Physical done

I had my yearly physcial and brought up WLS to my PCP.  He said that while he couldn't outright recommend me for WLS since I don't have any MAJOR co-morbities such as diabetes, he wouldn't stop me either because he said if I don't lose weight I will end up with major risk factors that I don't want.  He also gave me another surgeon to get a second opinion with and ordered all my blood work.  Next is to meet with the psychologist.

Initial consult today

Aug 29, 2007

I had my initial consultation today with Dr Jossart.  He seems like a very thoughtful doctor and was impressed with his staff.  I was going in thinking of Lapband, but he suggested I look into VSG as well since Lapband may have some complications and long term issues (such as maintenance) to worry about.  I met with the dietician as well and she liked the fact I was pretty well versed about food types and that I was a label checker.

I also talked to my cousin who had Roue N Y done 4 years ago.  She dropped from 257 down to 140 but gained a bit and is now at 170 ("I eat too much bread and don't exercise").  She said she would totally do it again and when I asked about the issues she's had they were all related to the specific surgery type she had done and complications from doing it open instead of lap.  She strongly suggested having it done via lap which is a foregone conclusion.

I have a physical scheduled Sept 6th and need to get an appt with the psychologist.  Stay tuned!
