Catching up

Jan 02, 2008

So it has been a little while since I entered anything on this blog since thanksgiving. Things seem so busy during the holidays, seem impossible to find time to enter any updates. I had my 2 month check up on Dec 20 and everything is going good. I weighted in at 242...not too bad. I weighed 290 prior week of surgery, lost 10 pounds the week on liquid diet before surgery...weighed 280 day of surgery. Lost 48 pounds. I am amazed how things are changing on me so rapidly and very thankful. I made it through christmas with no problems...would have like to eat some of the treats but after this surgery make me rethinking choices alot. I am feeling good these days, keeping up with the water and supplements. I have good days and bad days reaching my goals of protien as I can stand liquid protein shakes so I eat protein bars and even they are hard to eat at times...feeling burn out some days but is starting to get normal to me so it is not so bad. I look back a year ago I was as high as 320 and as of yesterday I weighed 235....that is encouraging and I look forward for my progress but not going to drive myself crazy weighing every day. Taking one day at a time.

I survived Thanksgiving

Nov 26, 2007

So I survived Thanksgiving. I thought it would be tough to get through with all the food being passed around, luckily when you are not hungry and don't want to deviate from the menu plan as I recover it was easy to pass up all the old food I used to eat. Luckily my cousin went through this surgery a year ago and she was do most of the cooking so it made it allot easier. It was awesome to be able to talk about what we can eat and don't eat and she has been through it all. She has lost lots of weight and has allot of tricks getting the protein down. I admit I have been trouble finding and getting enough protein I like and tolerate but it is getting a little better. Cool update I am fitting in smaller clothes and fast. I cant believe how small my belly has gotten, I went from a 2x to XL in one month. Whew! that is fast and my pants are always baggy right now. LOL

2 Week check up

Nov 07, 2007

Well everything is doing good. I had my two week check up at the Dr. Office and everything seems to be moving along. I am amazed how the wieght has fallen off. I have lost 30 lbls or so during my six month diet to qualify my insurance. But I wieghed around 296 at my pre screening before surgery, the day of surgery after the liquid diet I wieghed about 282. Post op I wieghed in at 262. Wow! I am amazed, I am so focused on getting the water and protien in that I am not paying attention that the new me is starting to shine through. Each day I am feeling a little better. The side gut pain is taking its time getting use to but I will endure, made it this far. I am getting a little bored so I am going to see if I can go back to work next week. It shouldn't be too bad as I am a graphic artis so it only involves working behidn a computer so I can take it as I feel strong enough and take breaks inbetween as needed. I am very thankfull that I have a supportive company I work for not to mention everone posting on this site. Thanks for the encuragement

Finished up my pre-surgical appointment

Oct 11, 2007

All the labs and test are in and I am green lighted for surgery. Everything is set for Oct 19th... I am looking forward to the new me. I went to a refresher course of the nutritions class before my apointment with Dr. Ludwig. I did this class a year ago but ran into insurance roadblocks to get WLS. It was interesting to hear the information just from what I hear ago...alot of new supplements on the list now days and different vitamins. This class sparked me to get everything in order, so I got my extra chewable vitamins, calcium and b12 and protion supplements all pruchased and stock at home. I am going to tie up any loose ends this weekend and trying to slow down and rest is a chalenge but I don't want to be over tired before surgery. Working two jobs is going to have to be on hold and time to foucs on me which I neglect at times but now I have no choice but be more foucused on me, for the good. More later as I continue on my liquid diet. Thank goodness for broth and surger free jello and pudding, I am getting a little bored with chocolate shakes and I am nervouse to experiement at this point as I want to make sure I loose wieght and shrink the liver. I think I am on track as I lost 4 lbs since my last wiegh in last week for the pre-surgical screening. onto the new ED 2.0

On the liquid diet...

Oct 10, 2007

Well I am on the dreaded liquid diet. So far day 2 and all is going well. The only thing I can say is ....I am hungry!! But is something I am prepared to endure.

Getting Closer by the day.

Oct 01, 2007

So it is officially 19 days of the old me and that much closer to the newer me. I look forward to the newer me and some hesitation of saying good by to the old me. But overall it is for the best as the old me was not heading down to a happier and healthier life. Wednesday I am getting the first bat of text Dr. Ludwig needs before surgery...I am dreading my liquid diet but I will survie. I have been keeping it undercontrol and not over eating since I have been on my doctor supervised diet...it is a little harder to keep control as I stopped taking the hunger suppressents the doctor had me on... Won't be long...gulp or should I say sip sip. More as it gets closer to the date!:)

Whew! Final got all the red tabe done with my insurance...and I am now ready to start life again by taking control of my wieght through gastric bypass. I will be posting more as more information comes through. If you are reading this and researching about getting this surgery, hang in there and have hope as some times it can be a long journey getting through most insurance red tape to get approval. It took me year and a half to get this approved.

Getting Closer

Mar 01, 2007

3/1/06 Getting all my documentation together to submit to my insurance. Had to do a couple bloodtest to get uptodate. I have hopes that my medical history will suffice for a medical necessary aproval for my insurance with out having to do a 6 month diet but we will see. I am getting my sixth month diet going with a Dr. Powel to get things rolling but hopefully I won't have to go through 6 month diet plan. The irony is I have already done this more than 5 years ago Lost some wight over a 6 month period. I needed to use the medical records for insurance but I was told doctor was retired. The funny thing is I his sone is taking over the business and is a doctor also. I am scheduled to start March 8th, while I am there I am going to ask again to see if there is any hope his father still has medical records. I kind of wish there were laws to mandate keep records but learned there really is as of yet that I know of.
