Pre-weight loss surgery

Mar 08, 2011

I was approved for wls and have decided to go with Dr. Brader and have the lap-band procedure done.

I have been on a 3 month monitored diet, my insurance only required 3 months.

I just got scheduled for April 26, may change it by a week, cause 4 days after that surgery date I am doing 2 - 5K Walk/runs, one on Saturday and one on Sunday...oops!

I have been exercising at my doctor's office, they have a lovely gym, and I just joined the YMCA this week.  I am currently doing 4 to 5 a week, 3-4 days of Cardio 30-45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical, and then 2-3 days of additional weight training.

I am journal ALL of my food, and am currently aiming for 1200 calories a day and at least 70 grams of protein.

I have lost 14 lbs as of today 3/9/10, (home scale weight), but is was very slow weight loss at the start of my 3 month diet because I admit I didn't really "work" the program, I just ate what ever and wrote it down...like that was going to work...lol
And I didn't start "really" working out until about a month ago...that was when I got serious about my workouts.

I have had a change in my head you might saw...when I started this I kept saying things will get better when I get the band, and the more classes and meetings I attending I realized I need to get serious NOW...so that I don't have so much work to do once I get banded.  I do about 2 miles on the treadmill in 45 minutes and now and I remember about 2 months ago, the thought of the treadmill make me what to take a nap, honestly!

I hope that I can keep my mind right and really be successful with this band.  I do have only one concern and that is with excess skin, I can't afford plastic surgery and that really motives me to drink my water and go to the gym.  Everything that I have read and been told, if you keep your water intake up and stay toned during weight loss it minimizes that excess skin after WLS.

Best of luck to everyone!
