HAPPY NEW YEAR 2005

January 10, 2005
It's hard to believe that Christmas is over and the new year has begun. I'm getting ready to go to the ObesityHelp Altlana Regional Convention. I'm so excited about meeting everyone. I'm still maintaining my weightloss. I was sick from December 17-January 2 with the flu, sinus infection, both ears infected, bronchitis and urinary infection. I was one sick lady. I lost 12 pounds during that time, especially since I was dehydrated and didn't eat anything for nearly a week. I've put back on 4 of those pounds now that I am rehydrated and eating again. I'm still proud to be down the other 8 pounds. I STILL want to lost another 10 pounds or so. I've been at goal for quite some time now, but I would like to lost a few more....JUST FOR ME! I so fear weight gain. I just hope and pray I can keep it all off.

March 28, 2005
Things are still going well for me. Got my lab work back last week and my potassium is finally back to normal. I am so excited. It's been extremely HIGH for 8 months, but all is well now. I'm maintaining my weight loss with a 5 pound fluctuation up and down constantly. Guess it all depends on what time of day I am weighing and what I've eaten. My husband was diagosed with COPD in advanced stages just 2 months ago but later found out it was vanished. HE was annointed at church the week he found out and the very next week when we went to the pulmonary specialist, he found out he did not have it at all. What a miracle that was. He does have emphezma and chronic bronchitis. He is on breathing treatments and Wellbutrin and is doing quite well. He has been smoke and alchohol free for 2 months. I am so very proud of him and I know a lot of people have been praying hard for him. My girls are doing well and Holly will be attending her first prom in less than two weeks. She is so excited and so am I, considering that I was never able to attend any of my PROMS, dances, homecomings ect.....I was too FAT and no one would ask me. Until later........

November 6, 2004
Just got back home from Auburn/Opelika. I spoke at the Auburn Support group meeting yesterday. There was a good turn out and loads of food. Ulg.........All that FOOD!!! We all went out to Joe Muggs for coffee after the meeting. It was a great trip. It was so nice to meet everyone.

November 20,2004
It's nearly Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for. I have my health, my life, my family and my friends from OH. I think the good Lord above for all these things. I find myself getting bored with my life and feel that I need some new challenges in it. I pray that God will bring some direction to me so that I may live my life to it's fullest.

This is a picture of my DH and our youngest daughter Jill that was taken on Thanksgiving Day 2004.

December 10, 2004
We had a great surprise birthday party for Jill tonight at church. Everyone had a great time.

December 12, 2004
Jill's 14th Birthday. My family and I all went to church and then went out to dinner with friends and my Dad to celebrate Jill's birthday. After lunch we all just came home and rested. Sheww...........what a long weekend. It was a wonderful weekend!~ Just two years ago, I'd never have been able to do all that I did this weekend.

December 15, 2004
Went in today for regular 3 month blood work with PCP. Going next week for results.

December 16, 2004
As Christmas is nearing, I find myself spending a lot of time thinking about my Mama and how proud she'd be of me if she

Today, my daughters told me about this neat little coffee shop near our home. It's called PJ's Coffee Cafe'! It's absoutely wonderful. I had the BEST SF iced coffee ever. It put Joe Muggs to shame. It was a SF white chocolate/vanilla iced coffee thingy. Oh my goodness it was awesome. They also have lo carb wraps and soups and stuff. It was incredible. We are already planning our next get together for La Fiesta and then at PJ's for coffe afterwards. Then in December, we are going to meet at PJ's for dinner. They also have protein to add to their drinks as well. THEY ARE WEIGHTLOSS FRIENDLY!!! :)

October 28, 2004
Came home from work sick today with a stomach virus. This is the first time in over 2 years that I've been really, really sick. This was the worst. Went to doctor and he said there is a bad virus going around. Feeling a little better tonight. Hope I'll feel like going back to work tomorrow. I'm looking forward to dinner with my WLS friends next week and also will be heading out to Auburn/Opelika to speak at the support group meeting there.

2 year post-op WLS anniversary today~

What a ride it has been. I have a new lease on life and I'm living for the first time in my life! God has been good to me and I am grateful. I am at goal, although I personally would prefer to lost an additional 10-15 pounds. All my doctors are pleased and I have exceeded the goals they set for me. It's my decision to try to lose more. I am wearing sizes 8's and 10's, although I do own a couple of 6's. I really want to get down to ALL 6's!!!! I've gained 7 pounds, but at this time I am still swollen from plastic surgery I had 4 weeks ago. I know that's part of it, but not all of it. It's not hard to put weight back on. I will forever have to watch everything I put in my mouth. Those pounds can creep back in a heartbeat and for that reason.....I KEEP MY SCALES HANDY! It really bothers me to see folks say....such and such pounds GONE FOREVER!!!! Let's face it folks.....NOTHING IS FOREVER! This is NOT AN EASY solution or a QUICK FIX to weightloss. IT is HARD WORK.....FOREVER!!!! I just know that if I had to do this 100 times.......I'd do it in a split second......this is the best thing that has ever happened to me!!! THANK GOD FOR WLS!!!

It's a beautiful Sunday morning. I'm 6 weeks final PS post-op and things are going great. I'm back to my old self, back at work and walking again. I feel great!

September 1,2004
On Saturday August 28th, I had the most wonderful priviledge of meeting two of obesityhelps fantastic members. I met with Dixie Chick (Lindy) from Opelika and Kiwani from Columbus, Ga. We had the best time eating, shopping and visiting until wee hours of the morning. It was great to get to meet after all the time we've spent getting to know one another on the Main and Alabama message boards.

Monday, September 6, 2004 LABOR DAY!

Yahoo Photo Album posted today. Just go to the top of my profile and click on WEBSITE, to see all my photos. They are of myself and of Lindy, Kiwani and I when we met last weekend for dinner in Columbus, Ga! Lindy was so SUPER kind enough to post them for me. What a great friend she is! She's a real angel! THANKS LINDY! Love ya!

September 25, 2004
OH. Alabama Message Board Bama Bash today!!!! It was terrific and I got to meet so many wonderful people! It was great to see everyone I've met on the Bama Board in person. I got burned on a motorcycle trying to show off at the bash. That's what I get for wearing shorts and trying to ride a bike.

Coming up on month 22 post WLS. Doing well. Walking 5-6 miles 4-5 days weekly. I have been mowing the lawn this summer for the first time in my life and actually enjoy it. (isn't that amazing?) Not losing weight anymore, but continue to do my best trying. I have increased my walking, water and protein. I have finally found the PERFECT protein drink. It's called Syntrax Fuzzy Navel. I ordered it from bariatriceating.com. for $26 for a HUGE container of it. It's really the best in the world as far as I'm concerned. I mix one scoop with 8 oz of Crystal Light SUNRISE. I'd really love to lose 15 more pounds. That is MY GOAL, but am relatively happy where I am. ARE WE EVER SATISFIED? :) I just want to be UNDER my PCP's goal weight. I am just so afraid of gaining weight back. I have gained 7 pounds, but keep bouncing back the same 5 over and over again. Today....I'm down again.....who knows what tomorrow brings? I was SO CLOSE....I hate this bouncing back and forth.

June 30, 2004
2nd annual post op check up with Dr. Dewitt today. Was great to see everyone. He seemed very pleased with my progress. Had lab work drawn in office. Just waiting on results..... Everything should be just fine. I asked him about the big contreversy over calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. He told me to just take Viactiv and not to worry and just enjoy life. Until next time.

July 6, 2004 Went for pre op testing today. Things do not look well and I may not get to have PS afterall. My potassium level is to high for them to put me to sleep. Went back for them to redraw it and check it again. Waiting on results now. In the mean time I went to PCP to show him all the results I got from Dr. Dewitts office last week. Some of them were not very well either. He put me back on glucophage till things get straightened out. He thinks it will help my blood sugar, cholestrol and potassium levels. He said to give it 2 weeks. Will have to wait till tommorrow morning to find out if I can have surgery.

July 7, 2004
Tests turned out much better and was able to have surgery after all. Third round of plastic surgery today. Things went well. Spent the night in DCH. July 8,2004 Went home from DCH from surgery. Feeling okay, but tired. July 10,2004 Went to support group meeting at Tuscaloosa Public library. 3 days post op from PS.

July 11,2004
Holly returned from Bahama's mission trip. We went on church van to camp meeting in Calera. It was a long trip and I shouldn't have gone. Wore me out. July 12, 2004 Still tired from going to camp yesterday. I really overdid it this time. July 13, 2004 Went to doctor for check up. Things are looking good. Got to shed all the bandages and padding. Feeling much better.

Still doing well. Not gaining any weight, but still want to lose another 10 pounds.

April 28, 2004
It's a busy time of year. Still struggling to get off 10-15 more pounds. I am at goal, but want to still go a bit further with it. School is winding down and we have 15 more days of school left. I can hardly wait for summer vacation. I am ready for a break. May 2, 2004 I just made up these recipes and made them today. My family and I have enjoyed them very much. I hope some of you can enjoy them as well. They are also good using vanilla protein powder in them as well to make a high protein type dessert. ENJOY!~

Sugar Free Strawberry Pie
1-12 oz Cool whip
1 small SF instant vanilla pudding
1 small SF strawberry jello (dry)
*I like this even better with Crystal light Strawberry/Kiwi (dry)
1-1/2 c. skim milk
1 pint fresh strawberries

Mix cool whip, pudding, dry jello and milk until well blended. Stir in slices strawberries, leaving a few slices for garnish. Place in a graham cracker pie crust. This would also be a great way to use vanilla protein powder. This is such a simple and easy sugar free dessert. I had more than enough for the pie crust, so I put the left over in a bowl and sprinkled graham cracker crumbs lightly on top. It's just as good without the pie crust too.

Sugar free Lemon Icebox Pie
1-12oz Cool whip
1 large box instant vanilla pudding
1 tub crystal light lemonade
2 c. skim milk
1 t. vanilla flavoring

Mix well and pour into graham cracker pie crust. This too, is SOOOOO GOOD!!!

I also made the Orange Vanilla Pudding this week. Here's that recipe. I think Val and Mokihana came up with this one, although mine may be a bit different.

Orange Vanilla Pudding Dessert
1 large SF instant Vanilla pudding
1 -4oz cream cheese
1 -12 oz coolwhip
1 Crystal light SUNRISE orange (1 tub dry)
1 can mandarine oranges (well drained)

Mix pudding, cream cheese, cool whip and crystal light well, blend in mandarine oranges and mix well. This would be so good topped with toasted slivered almonds. I thought it needed a little something crunchy added to it. Or maybe some chopped pecans.

I wish I knew how to add these recipes to the recipe website here, but I don't know how....if anyone knows how, then please feel free to add them for me. Thanks you all....I hope you enjoy these as much as I have.

Another recipe:

Coconut Pie (makes it's own crust)
4 eggs
1-1/2 c. unsweetened coconut
2 c. skim milk
1/2 c. self rising flour
1 t. vanilla
1-1/2 c. splenda

Stir well and put in 9 in. pie plate. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Enjoy! Keep leftovers in fridge~

Here's my FAVORITE!~

PEANUT BUTTER PIE

12oz light cool whip
8 oz light cream cheese
1 cup splenda
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter

Mix well and pour into graham cracker pie crust. This is do die for. It's the best, next to my Strawberry Pie. :)

January & February 2004

January 11, 2004
Well, it's a NEW YEAR and a NEW ME! I am pretty much recovered from my neck and chin lift now. It's been just over 3 weeks and I am doing well. I managed to lose another 5 pounds during the holidays, but in the last 2 weeks I have gained 2 of those pounds back. My eating got out of control for a few days, but I am back on track once again. I went to the store and stocked up on SUGAR FREE everything. :) I got my favorite Detour bars, NEW Slim fast shakes and some CARBOLITE Peanut butter cups for those days when I JUST HAVE TO have something sweet. I also got a few bags of sugar free Creme Savors, Life Savors and Cinnamon Disks. Very few calories if you only have a couple of them. I am glad Christmas is over and done with. I don't do holidays well still. I've always been that way. Don't know why, but I just have.

February 1,2004
I am struggling, trying to get off these last 10 pounds and struggling with my eating habits. I want to snack all the time. At least I am trying to snack on good things, but sometimes I FAIL. I suppose it's all the stress I am and have been under. Maybe just an excuse. WHO KNOWS? I am increasing my exercise and water intake. I hope it helps. March 23, 2004 Happy Spring!!! I STILL FEEL GREAT! Still bouncing around the same 3 pounds, but doing well just the same. I guess I am finally through losing. I sure did want to get off another 10 pounds or so, but I reached my goal 10 pounds ago, so I will just be HAPPY where I am. I am still walking 3 miles a day and doing well.

Went to Birmingham and met Teann, Wanda and Lesa today. What a great group of girls to meet from obesityhelp message board. We had a great time and wonderful lunch. Teann took some pictures of all of us. November 12, 2003 Got test results back. They have only found low iron and now I am taking iron tablets. I started hurting real bad last night and today, so I left work and went back to the doctor. I am going for a renal ultrasound and UVP in the morning. Teann already had Rhia post my new picture to my profile. It is wonderful. I can't believe how fast they are. :) Thanks girls. I can't wait to see our group picture together.

December 21, 2003
Well I am 4 days post op from facial reconstructive surgery. I had a "submental tuck" *neck and chin lift* on Wednesday. I also had a cyst removed from my hand at the same time. Although I am not in any pain, I sure am itching. I was allergic to the steri strips used on my chin. Doc has me taking prednisone, benedryl, hydrocortisone ointment and polysporin for the insiions. The rest of the stuff is for the huge rash and itching I am having from the affects of the steri strips. I am supposed to wear my head wrap at night only now, but I wake up itching so bad, I have to sit here and take it off to air a bit every few hours. I am coninuing to loose weight, I really thought I was through loosing, but apparently not. It's going REAL slow, but every so often, I'd drop another 2 or 3 pounds at a time. I make my goal yet. My ideal weight for my height is between 118-123. I still have a ways to go. At least another 10 pounds for me to lose. I feel like they took a pound of skin off my neck and chin right now, but it is still very swollen and I can't really tell yet what is going to happen there. I can tell a big difference already, but I can't wait to see the final results. Guess I'd better get off here and put that head gear back on and try to get some more sleep. It's only 1 am.

HAPPY RE-BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! It's been 1 short year since my WLS and I feel great. Thank you God for giving me my life back.

August 15, 2003
I have been back at work now for 2 weeks. Things are quite busy. I went back to Dr. Bunch for my final check up from my plastic surgeries. I am doing fine, but still have some swelling in my abdomen. He says that is normal and he has finally released me from his care. I have been stuck at the same weight now for over a month now. I have actually gained 2 pounds and have been unable to get them back off. I have increased my exercise , water and protein with no luck. I still want to lose another 10-15 pounds for sure, but at this rate I am wondering if it will ever happen.

September 1, 2003
Isn't this a beautiful profile page. I want to THANK Kym from the OH html team for sprucing it up for me. It is absolutly magnificent. THANK YOU KYM! I finally broke the dreaded plateau from hell last week. I was stuck for almost 6 weeks and now have lost 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks. PTL! October 5, 2003 It's been nearly 3 weeks since the house fire. We lost our home September 16th. It's a total loss. I have no computer now, or anything else for that matter. I am using my friend Ellen's computer at this time to check email about once a week. We are working hard at rebuilding our lives right now. I have lost 8 pounds in the last month. I thought I was thru losing at 13 months post-op, but after visiting my PCP last week with high blood pressure, he said that I had lost more weight. My blood pressure was quite high, but now seems to be more normal without any medication. Please continue to remember us in your prayers. November 5, 2003 YEAH!!!! I am finally back online. New house, new computer, same address, phone number, same email address. I am so glad to be back home here at obesity help. I have lost 8 more pounds in the last 6 weeks since the fire. Guess it's the stress, huh? We are all doing okay and just learning to deal with our new lives, home, ect... Thanks to everyone for all their prayers these last few weeks. I hurt my stomach last week lifting some furniture into our new house and have to go for a CT scan tomorrow. They also think I either have kidney stones or bladder infection. They have sent blood work and lab work off to find out what exactly is wrong. Will update when I find out more.

I am doing so well these days. My job starts back at school in two short weeks from today. I am supposed to be released from my Plastic surgeon this week and have already been released from my GYN on the hysterectomy. I am starting to feel more like my old self again. I have lost a total of 163 pounds and feel fantastic. I went to buy new clotes last weekend and wound up with a size 9 pair of slacks from the Limited in the mall here. They were great. I still can't believe my eyes. But it's true and I got a large top to go with them. It is such a cool looking outfit and I can't wait to get to wear it.
Well my sleeping pill is taking affect, so I'd better get to sleep. Talk more later.

July 24, 2003
Two days ago, I was called by producers at the Maury Povich show about coming to NY to be on the show. A couple of months ago a friend was watching the show and at the end of the show the "Question of the Day" came up. IT was....Have you ALWAYS been overweight and teased and tormented because of it and have you recently lost 100 pounds or more? Well, she called the show and called to tell me about it. I also called and left a message on voice mail and I hadn't really thought anymore about it until Tuesday when they called. I am so thrilled. They are sending a Courier out today to pick up my before and after pics. I suppose they have to see the pics before deciding on who will be on the show or not. I just hope I make it. I would love to be able to see NYC, now that I can WALK, BREATHE, and ENJOY myself.

July 28, 2003
On Friday, I went to the mall and bought my first pair of jeans. I think it's the first pair I have bought in about 20 years. I was so excited. I got a size 9, same size as the slacks I bought week before last. They are the cute low rise type with the slim legs and boot cut. THEY LOOK SO GOOD!!!! I even got a reaction out of my husband and he usually never says ANYTHING!
