Almost two weeks
Feb 19, 2011
Surgery was Tuesday Feb 8th and I had my one week check up on Feb 16th. So far everything is going well. I am able to hold my liquids down but I know that I am NOT getting my 60g of protein and 64oz of fluid! I am drinking the protein drink recipes they gave us and I am starting to get tired of carnation, peanut butter, bananas and peeled strawberries! They provided us with a protein supplement called protidiet that has 15g of protein per packet. You can add them to water or a drink like sobe zeros. They recommend you adding it to 5-10 oz of water but they are so strong I can only add it to a whole bottle of water.
I haven't thrown up yet...Thank goodness. Well...I did throw up some water the only night I was in the hospital when they gave me my meds and I gulped to much water. I am very lucky that I had to spend only one night in the hospital since my doctor uses robotics to preform the surgery laprocopocily. The pain is not as bad as I thought it would be. I was sent home with a pain ball that was put subcutaneously under my skin and then when it was empty it was pulled out at home. My dad had to do that for me sine it hurt a little bit. Other than that, I take about two tylenol a day and then my pain pills at night so I can sleep. I still cannot lay on my right side but can lay on my left. Bending over is more of a squat and it is still a little tight. I was able to run the sweeper without any pain and took the dogs for a walk. Each day is getting a little better and I cannot wait for what my future holds!

Last Supper
Jan 31, 2011
Well today is the last day that I will be eating real food for a while. It is kind of scarry and exciting because I cannot wait for the future. I stopped this morning and bought a large diet coke from McD's, I think if anything I will miss the most it will be the diet coke. This weekend I have to go do all of my last minute shopping and pick up my perscriptions. I have bought some of the myoplex light protein drinks to try and they are not that bad, amazingly! I keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the end and I just have to get over this little bump in the road.
Tomorrow I start the liquid diet! I really do not consider it a full liquid diet because they give us protein bars and soups with veggies and noodles in them along with the shakes and puddings. Who isnt to say that they will taste like crap, but at least we are able to chew something instead of drinking it all! I think SF Jell-o will be my life saver this week and A LOT of water w/ crystal light!!!
