Two Months Post-Op

Feb 25, 2009

It's been two months almost three since I have had my RNY. I am sorry for not posting my updates but I had a hard time coming down from the anesthesia. My surgery was December 15th and while I was at home the first three weeks I could not keep anything down and could not have a bowel movement which made me in back up in the hospital on New Years Eve. They did a CT scan and found I had a bowel obstruction. My doc was trying to make sure I get the weight off and closed me up a little too much. He said this happens to about 5% of patients and they do not know it will happen until it does. Well it only took him 20 mins to fix the problem and when I woke up I felt better than I did after the first procedure. I am doing good now and have lost 40lbs and of course more inches than pounds. I will be taking pictures this weekend and posting them soon. It is funny that you can see that you have lost weight but not like your co-workers, friends and family see you. I remember in a support meeting one day someone had said that they use to weight 350lbs and now they are 150lbs and they still see the fat person in the mirror. That is what I see at times, although I was really not that big but I still see that larger person. However, I am so happy that all of my health problems are gone and I feel really healthy. I will start to work out at the gym next week. I have been walking and stretching and it really works. But now it is time for the big girls work out so that I can feel stronger. Thank you all for your calls and emails and I hope the best for us all that we continue to work hard and keep our weight off as this surgery is not something to play with and we did not do it in vain but for our health and our love ones.
