A New Creation: Re-Birth

My journey began in the year 2000, I have a older sibling who is severely Obesite and I began checking out programs to help her. At the time I was doing this research I was approximately 180lbs myself and had just remarried. My new husband loves to cook and more importantly loves to feed people.

It appears my entire family has a bad relationship with food. Everything we do and everywhere we go is and was based on FOOD.

In 2000 I met several people in my church congregation that had had bariatric surgery and I monitored their progress. I myself was becoming larger and larger and depression was trying to overcome me. I tried every diet I could, I would loose 10 to 20 lbs as long as I was on the diet only to regain 30 to 40lbs after stopping. I joined a gym but had no motivation to continue because my self esteem was so low.

Finally in 2004 at the weight of 300lbs now I sought help for myself. I called a friend and she introduced me to Dr. Naaman and his web-site. After attending the classes required and speaking with the dietians in his office I was convinced this was a answered prayer. I began the process to my new life by calling my insurance company and investigating coverage details and cost. I also, went for a psychiatric evaluation on my own because I knew that I had been feeling depressed and wanted to be sure this would not worsen my condition. I had a great connection with the dietian and because I and my family spent so much time with food we had very enlightening conversations and I began to get excited about this new quest.

The financial manager at Dr. Naaman's office was very helpful in giving suggestions on finances for the operation and they made it afffordable for me by allowing a payment plan with a projected goal. I worked diligently towards meeting this goal before the operation and was successful. All of the financials were taken care of the day I entered the hospital. I only had to focus on my projected weight lose goal.

I initally lost 30lbs the first (2) two weeks out, another 70lbs by my sixth week for a total of 106lbs by my 3mo. check up. The total weight lose 126lbs by the end of my first year.
