I am a 36 year old professional, who has always lauded myself as a big, beautiful sister who loves life!! All of this is true, however, as I have gotten older, I've begun to feel my weight!! I don't like it!! Yes, I dress nice, have a social life and can move with the best of them. The other day, the stair leading to my condo gave me the reminder that I am over 300 pounds and I need to do something about it.. I've been researching the Lap Band surgery for 2 years now, but I never took the opportunity to speak w/ a surgeon or a physician specializing in weightloss. Until recently, I was never fully ready for a complete lifestyle change. I refused to admit that i had a food addiction that could not be broken with sheer willpower. This made me feel vulnerable and very uncomfortable... BUT, I did it!! I contacted my insurance company, a nationally renowned bariatric center and a wonderful doctor to guide me through the process!!! This is the beginning of my journey.. More to come...............
