New at this!

Apr 12, 2009

Okay everyone.  I am going to try to incorporate a time each day or so to update this.  Still learning about this site.  I had my surgery on April 2.  I came home from the hospital on Sunday April 5.  I am doing great.  I am on pureed food and very thankful for that.  We cook for the family and I just puree me a little of the meat and veggies and I am good to go.  I also have at least one protein shake a day.  I feel really good, just do not know how fast I should expect the weight to drop off.  I am trying to walk a couple of times a day, but sometimes these tubes just hurt a little to much for that.  I have a drainaget tube to my new stomach to ensure there are no leaks and a G-Tube (feeding tube) to the old stomach to ensure I am getting all the nutrients that I need.  I do not use my G-Tube much at all.  It makes me feel really bloated and bad.  I have been very proud of myself and the way my body and mind are adjusting to this new life.  I have not yet wanted something that I could not have or anything that I normally would have eaten because it was around.  I really feel great and will try to continue to keep everyone updated.  I am getting out and about as I can with my husband and children.  Went to my youngest daughter's ballgame the other day.  That was not bad, just ended up very tired, but I slept well that night.  I went to the grocery store another day, even thought I used the motorized wheelchair in there.  Have been to visit some of my co-workers also.  Doing pretty good if I must say so myself.  Well, time to get ready to spend time with the family.  More to come.
