Wow I'm baaad at this....

Jan 17, 2008

I'm really bad at this!!!  *lol*  I guess I should post here more often and keep up-to-date on things.
Things are going really well for the most part.  It's been almost 11 weeks and I've lost 50 lbs. which I'm pretty happy with.  No problems with foods, and I've been getting all the vitamins, liquids, and protein in almost all of the time.  The only glitch is this pain I've had for the last couple of weeks.  It's at the bottom of my incision site and goes to just above my belly button, and it hurts when I bend, stretch, lift anything, or strain.  I've got an appt. with Dr. Caruana on Tuesday to have it checked out, hopefully it will be something really simple.
I've started exercising..yeah I know I should have started long before these past couple of weeks.   But at least I'm doing it now....  Starting out slow, using the recumbent bike for about 10 minutes at a time.  I can't do the treadmill because my foot is taped for the next few weeks(plantar fasciatis) and I can't do the resistance bands or hand weights until after I figure out what's causing this pain.  So I'm doing what I can for now...
I guess that's about it for now.  I'll post more after my appt. next week.

First post-op check-up

Nov 17, 2007

My first check-up went pretty well I think; they said I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing , and  I lost 25lbs.!!!  It was a real shock to see that number on the scale....  I've been cleared to drive, and Mark said I can eat actual food as long as I chew it up alot and keep it moist.  So I've been trying things here and  there and so far so good with everything.  :)   I've had an egg, cottage cheese, deli breast of chicken with a little mayo, and the usual cream  of wheat, yogurt, ect...
I guess I have to buy a scale now because I can't see myself waiting 4 weeks to take a peek.  *lol*

Update

Nov 11, 2007

I'm 6 days  out now and it's been an emotional rollercoaster for me.  I'm still having the "what did I do to myself" thoughts but I hope they will get less frequent as time goes by.  I'm still on t he clear liquids and that's been going well so far, I get anywhere from 40-45 oz. day and am still trying to work my way up.  Tomorrow I start on the full liquid stage and I'm scared, but happy there will be a few more things I can add to the menu.  I haven't felt hungry at all, but I have to admit I felt so left out when my husband  ordered pizza for himself and our son...  I know there will come a time when  I'll be able to eat "real" meals again and in the meantime I'll just have to suck it up...  :)  The pain hasn't been too bad, definitely manageable.  I go for my first post-op check-up  on Thursday, hopefully they'll say everything is going great....
