Meet the Phycologist February 18-2009

Feb 23, 2009

I got to my appointment and was warmly greeted by Dr. Barb Loring.  I guess I thought I was going to lay on a couch like you see on tv but instead I sat in an oversized very comfortable chair.  She started off by asking questions about me and my family history.  I have no problem telling anybody about my past and my experiences.  Everything was fine until I was asked about the health of my parents and then I had to tell her that my dad had just passed away recently.  I told her about his leukemia and the year are family spent watching him win and then loose his battle.  I started to cry when I told her of my day I spent with him 4th of July last year, that morning me mom and dad had gone to some garage sales later that afternoon we had been out fishing on the  pontoon, the fish were biting like crazy.  I could tell dad was really enjoying it.  It was getting late so we headed in and got ready for the BBQ.  Dad grilled way too much food and we (me, my son, my nephew, and mom) ate and soon after we did some fireworks.  Soon the boys went in for the night and me and mom and dad stayed out and watched the big fire works show from across the lake.  I will never forget the moment dad was waving his sparkler and said how much better he was feeling and that it must have been a cold.  We went to bed.  The next morning I woke up to the sound of his foot dragging across the gravel in the driveway.  I then heard two car doors slam.  I got dressed and went into the cabin and saw a note from mom saying that she had to take dad into the clinic and that he would be fine.  Hours would pass and mom came home without dad.  They had admitted him.  He stayed at that hospital for 2 days before they transfered him to the U of M.  He never left the U of M.  I spent dads last day at his home which he loved and cherished and worked so hard for.  It was truly a special day that God blessed me with.  The doctor listened carefully and shared with me the fact that she had lost her spouse as well.  We finished the interview and then I had to take this 600 questionaire dealy.  When I was done I handed it to her and she said good luck and congratulations on your weight loss future.  I guess this means good news.  I will see her March 4th for the results of the questionare.
