Well went to see the cardiologist and didn't really like what he had to say. I have a mild murmur and I am a diabetic. I had some blood tests done a while ago at my family doctor and was supposed to go for more but never went. When Dr. Kumar asked for my records he found out what I kind of already knew but didn't want to admit...uuggh..so before he clears me I have to have the ecocardiogram and the stress test. Hmmm more tests...but all for a good cause right!!!

02/02/06 -First clearance attained with Dr. Kumar!!! I was so thrilled to hear that all is well with my heart and I have my cardiac clearance. I had my sleep test last night and will go see Dr. Ismail on the 10th of this month. Keeping my fingers crossed all is well there and I get my clearance. Waiting for Maryellen to get back to me about scheduling the next step on the road to health.

2/10/06 - Shew after a LONG week of appointments I finally got all finished and am on my way to getting finished. Dr. Ismail did say I had slight sleep apnea and wanted me to tell Dr. Wynn to put me on a CPAP only while I was in the hospital. He said that after the surgery and loosing some weight it should go away. See the wonders this surgery can do to your health. I went to see Maryellen and Anja for my pre op appointments and wow they are so very special. Their knowledge and support will come in handy on my journey to becoming the NEW Kathy! I truly look forward to this surgery and the changes I am going to have to make.

2/12/06 - Sitting around all weekend with absolutely NO energy and I hate it. I baked a big turkey dinner yesterday only to have my husband go to PA to snow mobile with his buddies. I was invited but I just didn't have the energy to do it. Today I baked a chocolate cake and watched the food channel..and what is showing all day...Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate...depressing!

2/14/06 - Happy Valentines day everyone! I called Cathy at Dr. Wynn's and scheduled my appointment prior to surgery so everything looks to be going on schedule. All my clearances are done and so now we are waiting to hear from BCBS and surgery day. I am so excited yet a tad apprehensive but I know that this will be the best thing for me, my family and my health. I have made my own little section in the kitchen for all my protein powders, vitamins, etc and that is where I will train myself to stay. Talk soon!

2/26/06 - Gee I guess it has been a while since I have written. I went to see Dr. Wynn on Friday and all is ready for my surgery. I hope it is a good day since it is her daughter's 3rd birthday. I am stocking shelves and bought some stuff from the docs office. My cabinet is overflowing so I guess all I do now is wait. I go to see Dr. Bianci and do my pre op at St Francis on the 3rd then surgery day. It is fast approaching and will be here before I know it..the nerves are setting in. Talk soon...

3/12/06 - Well I am now a POST OPER...I am 3 days out and still have a couple of ouchies but everything seems to be going pretty well. I am so glad the surgery is over and my new life is beginning. I have been very restless though and my husband has been yelling at me to calm down and take it easy. I start the pureed part of my diet tomorrow so today is the last day of liquids only. I have been drinking my protein fruit drinks and eating the protein jello so eventually I should get my daily intake off the ground. It is so very exciting yet scary too. I want this to work so badly that I track everything I take in. I plan on making that a ritual. Well it is off to a nice walk in the beautiful weather. Will keep you all informed of how it has been going. Oh when I started I weighed in at 267..the morning of surgery I was 257.50 and I am now 259. So those are the stats so far..

NEW INFO *****

Sorry it has been so long since I last updated. My whole life has changed..FOR THE BETTER!!! I am now 89 pounds lighter in less than 6 months. My 6 month anniversary is September 9th. It has been an exciting time for me. I went from a size 22 to a size 14. And I eat just about anything. I do stay away from SUGAR and SODAs..I truly don't need them and it is so not worth it..being healthy and feeling good are the best things that have happened to me. My 13 year old son was in Florida vactioning and when he came back he didn't even recognize me. It felt soooo awesome. Of course I have no boobs and my butt is way smaller but who needs that when you look so dang good. I would recommed this surgery to anyone that is obese. I haven't had any complications to date and feel WONDERFUL!!!

Talk to everyone soon and keep loosing...
