Hey guys.. my story may or may not be typical but here goes..

my name is Kelly and I've been struggling with my weight for over half my life!

I'm a 47 yr old (young) woman and blessed with 2 of the smartest and prettiest girls on earth. I've tried everything there is out there to help take the weight off. Including the good ol DIET AND EXCERCIZE everyone raves about. I lost at the most 51lbs over a 2 yr period during that time. I looked and felt great but I sprang my knee while out on my morning walk and within maybe 8 months of that incident I gained all but 10lbs of it back.

Wow..it felt like I sat down on the couch one day to watch tv and when I got up I was 40 lbs heavier. It just seemed that quick. y health problems started to return and depression set in around whether or not I even had the will power to get it off again. I felt like a failure. It wasn't like I was giving up carrots or knitting....something the public couldn't see me doing. But with the weight loss-gain thing... EVERYONE KNEW MY WEAKNESS ..all the friends strangers and fam that congradulated me can also see that I have lost the battle.

I ended up at my doctors office and he noticed my blood pressure was higher, my diabetes returned among others issues and he referred me to lap band. However once I got going in classes, I was recommended by my surgeon to have the "sleeve".

So here I am today... I've been on youtube checking for testimonials and that kind of stuff and one of the ladies mentioned this website.

My surgery is on July 28 (soooooo excited and scared) but I  am so looking forward to taking back my life

 IT IS NOW...

late October...SF Giants at the world series..wow. I have wonderful news on myself and that is since my surgery on July 28th at 2010, I have gone from 246 pounds to 197.8 !! I haven't been sooo busy that I couldn't check in because that wasnt the case. I haven't been on my profile but I have been (regularly) on OH reading and posting to the VSL forum and also updating my healthtracker.

I always had the intent to edit my profile but never put aside time for that. I have a VBLOG tracking my weightloss too. I haven't decided to publish them onYoutube so at this point they are most definatly private. I have before pics and since I haven't reached my goal or..come close (IMO) to it I feel like I should wait to post those.

Going down on the scale is a wonderful feeling..saying goodbye to diabetis is a wonderful feeling..having my kids put their arms ALL THE WAY around me is a wonderful feeling. My clothes are smaller.. goodbye 26 hello 14!!   Wow. I've said it before on message boards and I'll say it again right here on my profile.

This website has done miracles for me. Between my Doctors and the people on here sharing there experiences and giving advice..I would be lost. I was on Youtube watching videos from people having the surgery or has had the surgery for weeks. And then finally one lady mentioned this website and I havent left yet. Having my "Sleeve" is going to be a life changing event. I feel this  website should go along with it once you leave the hospital. The nurse wheels you to your car and then hands you a paper with the link to ObesitHelp.com

IT SEEMS TO TAKE ME A LITTLE LONGER THAN MOST TO LOSE MY WEIGHT. I CANT LET THAT DISCOURAGE ME SO I STOP TRYING TO COMPARE MY WEIGHTLOSS WITH OTHER MEMBERS.. I'M DOWN TO 190.0 WHICH IS WAY BETTER THAN MY HIGHEST 269! I LOOK AND FEEL AWESOME AND PEOPLE AROUND ME CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IN ME.

I'M LOVING ONE-DER-LAND..TOOK TOO MANY YEARS TO GET HERE. DIABETES WAS THE SCARIEST FOR ME. MY BLOOD PRESSURE KEEP RISING UNTIL I BECAME A WALKING TIME BOMB.

MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS VERY CLOSE TO NORMAL AND MY DIABETES IS ALLLL GONE BUB BYE!!  AND NEVER TO RETURN!!

                                                            RAINBOWS~

I FINALLY BROKE A STALL THAT HAD TO HAVE LASTED ALMOST 3 MONTHS. GOING BETWEEN 190 AND 196 WAS KILLING ME MENTALLY. I STOPPED MY WEEKLY VIDEO BLOGS  I DID EVERY TUESDAY BECAUSE IT BECAME DEPRESSING TO REPORT WEEK AFTER WEEK AFTER WEEK THAT I WAS STILL 193 POUNDS! I STILL FIND MYSELF RUNNING TO THE SCALE TO MAKE SURE I'M STILL UNDER 193.  I EVEN WENT TO MY DOCTORS OFFICE TO HAVE MY WEIGHT DOCUMENTED JUST INCASE MY WEIGHT SHOT UP I WOULD HAVE PROOF THAT I DID GET AS LOW AS 193 IN MY LIFETIME.

THE SCALE IS THAT FRIEND YOU CALL WHEN YOU WANT AN HONEST ANSWER
                                                                       fat weight

I ACTUALLY DO GO TO THE HOSPITAL EVERY OTHER MONTH OR SO TO DOCUMENT MY WEIGHT ALONG WITH MY BLOOD PRESSURE. WHEN I FIRST GOT MY REFERRAL FROM MY DOCTOR I MENTIONED MY WEIGHT HAD GONE UP TO OVER 269 POUNDS. THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THAT. MY HIGHEST WEIGHT THEY HAD ME ON RECORD WAS 258...WHICH IS STILL UP THERE BUT JUST NOT MY HIGHEST.

THE REASON FOR THAT WAS I WAS SO ASHAMED TO GO INTO THE DR'S OFFICE AND NEVER WENT IN FOR CHECK UPS (ONLY EMERGENCY'S) WHEN I BEGAN LOSING IT ON MY OWN AROUND 5-6 YEARS AGO - WITH VERY HARD WORK AND COMMITTMENT - I GOT DOWN FROM 269 TO 258 AND HAD THAT DOCUMENTED..

I HAVE A BETTER IDEA OF HOW TO SHOP FOR FOOD AND WHEN TO EAT IT. IT WILL BE A YEAR POST OP IN JULY - I'VE LOST A LITTLE OVER 60 POUNDS AND HAVE PRETTY MUCH FIGURED OUT MY LIFE STYLE CHANGE AND IT'S ALL POSITIVE FROM HERE ON OUT.

I had another stall that must have lasted 6 months I am not kidding!! I kept fluctuating between 183 and 185 pounds.. It almost became depressing day after day same thing.

I never forget my friends (in my head) at obesityhelp. All my questions and concerns are answered in the forum or I can reach out with a question of my own and get answers and suggestions within minutes.
I couldnt be the only person out there with WLS that has stalled for as long as I did. Turns out I wasn't and it was within minutes that I heard of *5day pouch test*  I went to the website..  5daypouchtest.com I read everything on there and decided it was 911 time for me.  I was so tired of hanging around at this same weight for such a long period. I am thankful I'm not 269 pounds anymore but with the surgery I should lose more than I have already.

I basically began treating myself as if I had just come out of surgery recently. I started the broth and pudding for 2 days..on to soups the 3rd day....etc.  I suggest the 5 day to anyone reading this for a remedy to a plateau or a stall.

by the end of the week I had dropped almost 8 pounds! And my stomach seemed to shrink back down too. Now I am excercising regularly and really satisfied with my looks again.

wow one other fantastic moment in my new life(style)
At my last Doctor Appt I was told and shown how much lower my blood pressure and cholestoral levels were.
I have been taking pills for high blood pressure and hyper tension for over 20 years.  My doctor said I can stop taking them now. This makes me so emotional even as I type.

One of my lifes wishes besides being healthy and able to enjoy my golden years..(which are coming way to fast) is to be able to see my grandchildren. Babysit. Take them on outings. Keep up with them.  That is going to happen after all!!

I absolutely enjoy getting dressed at the start of my day. I love the way my jeans and blouses look on me! Me in skinny jeans? I love the compliments and all the attention I get. I have never owned so many sweaters and jackets...I used to feel they made me look even bigger than I already was. Well not the case anymore. I have a come a long way and I love it when friends and family notice. I've gotten to the point where I don't see the fat person in the mirror anymore which seems to be an issue for some people. The first 8 or 9 months out I still felt sort of chubby. But now...not so much.
