6 Days Post Op

Nov 28, 2010

Hi all,
I got home on Friday night and it was a very long day traveling.  I was pretty tried yesterday and took a lot of naps. I'm up and walking around and I feel better when I move around.  I had my first protein shake made with water today and man was that good.  I had a little trouble getting in a lot of fluids initially and it would take me all day to drink 500ml.  Today it's much better.
The facilities in Mexico were better than some facilities I've seen and worked in here in Canada...if anyone is worried or have reservation, please put it aside....you are in good hands.  What can I say about my doctor and Trish....??  One of the most dynamic well coordinated teams I've met.  Dr. Ponce is a true professional, and craftsman in his profession, attentive, caring, knowledgeable, compationate etc etc etc.   Trish was awesome, pnenominal and a very compassionate individual with a heart of gold.  She went above and beyond to provide for all our needs, questions etc.  any doctor would be very lucky to have her.
We stayed at the Hotel Lucerna, and it was a great hotel, clean, 24 hr room service for the ones traveling with you:),
grounds, pool, exercise room....everything you would ever need of a hotel....Lucerna delivered.

I would do it all over again with Dr.Ponce and his team.
Talk soon!

Day #3

Nov 24, 2010

Mom is doing great! We're back from the hospital. She's walking around, still slowly but getting better every hour. We did the blue dye test yesterday evening to make sure there were no leaks and all was fine. She slept through the night no problem. And today we left INT and went to Angeles for the barium swallow. Her little stomach is about the size of an egg, it was cool to watch the liquid go down. So now were sitting in the hotel and mom's taking a nap in a full size bed.

I'd like to just put out there, that Dr. Ponce and Trish have been absolutly phenomenal! They have gone above and beyond the call of duty and it's been greatly appreciated!

Day #2

Nov 23, 2010

It's Nikki again.

We're on day #2. Mom had a bit of a rough night last night. Got a bit of sleep, but kept waking up periodically. She's in a substantial amount of pain, even though the nurses are doing their best to manage it. It's mainly the gas pain from the air pumped into her stomach during the surgery. It's also causing a shortness breath. Mom is wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it was as bad as hers and if so how it was managed. Oh..the nurses ears must have been burning...here she is with the meds..yay!

Thanks again to everyone for all your kind words and support!
I will continue to keep you all posted!

Gena's Day

Nov 22, 2010

Hi everyone, It's Nikki again!

Mom had a great day today! Her surgery was very successful. Went in at about 3:30 and was in recovery by 7. She was groggy when returned to the room (as to be expected), but after a couple hours rest she was back to her normal self. She even got up and walked the hall and back! She is sound sleeping now and hopefully will be even better tomorrow!

I would personally like to thank all of you that have so supportive. There is only so much that we can do as family members and so much that we can offer her, in terms of support because we aren't in her shoes. But to have a group of people such as yourselfs is truly a blessing. So thankyou from the bottom of my heart for being her pillars of strength!

Always,

Nikki
