I can't remember not being overweight. When I got married I weighed 180. Even being heavy I was in shape and did every thing I needed to do. We built a house. I kept animals, gardened. We had one son and adopted 3 girls. After our last girl I think I was really starting to feel the weight. By then it was up to 260 or 270. I had tried many diets but none worked. I did weight watchers, lost 50, got prenant, gained it back after our youngest son was born. (he was 12lbs14on) This was the beginning of the end, well maybe not. It was the start of my diabetes and gaining to over 300#.

Now my baby is 19....and here I am, diabetic, high blood pressure, legs and feet hurting. My doctor has mentioned the weight loss surgery for several years and I just figured I could do it if I put my mind to it. But finally last spring I saw that was not happening and decided to look into wls. I am just sorry I didn't do it years ago.

My surgery was December 6, 2006. Things have gone really well physically. Christmas was hard. Food has been my life. But, I just try to think about how much better I feel already. And the things I will be able to do.

Had my post op visit January 4. I had lost 32#s. I think that is okay. Doesn't show much yet, but then it is only a drop in the bucket of what I hope to loose.

It has been a little slow going these last two weeks, getting a little depressed. Then I found the "Over 50" group - they have really great advice. Started drinking more water. And am down 3#s. Yay.
