It's been a week since my surgery and I'm down 10 lbs from my surgery weight.  I was 244.5 the morning of surgery.  I thank god for his support and guidance.  I'm not really sure what my goal weight should be but I will probably find out next week during my post-op appoinment.  The following are the changes I have noticed since having the surgery:

1. I don't snore anymore.  My husband says he has to check to see if I'm breathing...isn't that amazing?
2.  I can laugh and sneeze without wetting my undies.  I had a minor problem with incontinence.  What  a blessing!

I'ts amazing how quickly things start to get better.  I hope I will have more things to report in the future.

I went in for surgery on the 22nd.  I got nervous and for some reason I became afraid of not waking up from the anesthesia.  I think my husband was probably more nervous than I was and that made things worse.  Two days later I was released to go home since I had minimal pain and was able to tolerate liquids.  I really do not want to learn what it feels like to "Dump."  My biggest challenge now is drinking everything I'm supposed to drink.  I feel a little pressure around my abdomen area but no pain.  Thank god!  I dream of feeling and looking better!

I have my surgery date scheduled.  I'm excited and nervous.  I hope that by having the surgery, I will feel better physically, mentally and emotionally.

I feel this is a new beginning...I hope to be able to roller skate, wear high heels, dresses and enjoy life.

I had my first consultation with the surgeon today.  My back has been killing me and feel so determined to put an end to the pain on my back, the swelling of my ankles and the knees.

I haven't  wore a dress in over three years.  I miss wearing heels.  I have struggled with my weight for over 20 years (I'm 36).  I remember when I was 11 yrs old, I was wearing size 9 in womens.  I then went on to wear a size 14 in high school.  By the time I graduated from high school, I was 181 lbs.  I went to Jenny Craig and lost 30 lbs.  I maintained 150 lbs or so until I got pregnant with my son.  By the time I gave birth, I was weighing 216 lbs.  From that point, I have been on a roller coaster ride; up and down to finally weighing in at 257.

I have been denied promotions due to my weight and I feel as though through the years, I haven been judged by the size of my "ass" and not my intelligence.  I have changed careers now and feel positive about my career and home life.  The only thing now is over-coming my health issues tied-up with my weight.

Went to have the lab work done and EKG.  My HMO PCP doesn't belive my HMO will want to pay for the echocardiogram or CXR.  I will then use my PPO for that.  Yes, I went and got a PPO hoping it will pay for the surgery.  I have the appointment with the gastroenterologist tomorrow.  Wish me luck!
