I was an attractive, trim 5'8" woman during my teens and early twenties.  Excessive weight came to visit and stay after each of my children.  Until having my last child in 1993, you might have considered me 'pleasingly plump' versus encroaching on morbidly obese as I became shortly after her birth in 1994.  I weighed 200 at her birthday and 238 six monthes later.  Numerous attempts at weight loss via L.A., W.W., Atkins would take me down to the 210 range before I would either lose focus or plateau.  This always meant that I was a darn sight better than I was but nowheres near my former self as I pictured  'Me'.  Inevitably I would gain all back...plus about 10 lbs. each time till (Wa-laa) I'm at 252 lbs. in 2007.  BMI 38-39 with hypertension, hypercholesteremia and looking like the Wrath of God.  Buying clothes had become 'pick out the size and throw it in the cart' because trying something on and having it fit didn't mean it looked near as good as on the mannequin.  I explored WLS in early 2007 initially considering lap-banding.  As I talked with people who had had either that or Roun en Y done, I soon favored the later.  I went to support group meetings and some of the post -op complications experienced by others really scared me to the point of not wanting to have either done.  However, having family photos come back in Sept. 2007 featuring myself made me reconsider my reality. . . Oh My Gosh!  I did start a rigorous walking regimen for myself and had lost 30 lbs. again by Thanksgiving 2007.  In Oct. 2007, I was seeing Dr. Mecenas for the 2nd time and saying "Git'er done!" via  Lap. Roun en Y.  No half-___ jobs for me (Lap-band)!
