Less than 2 weeks to go...

Feb 21, 2012

Yesterday marked two weeks from my surgery date! I'm super excited about it...and nervous. Yesterday was also the day my little one got her tonsils and adenoids out and tubes in her ear...and an overnight stay at the hospital because she's so little. She did pretty well...there were some complications in the recovery room andshe was there for an extra couple hours. So while I was nervous about my baby getting breathing treatments and being on oxygen and I wasn't with her, I told my husband that this was a bad day to give up nervous eating. But I did okay...and she is perfect! And she'll sleep better...yay!

So yeah...my planning wasn't amazing for the hospital stay and I did eat a chicken breast while I was there. I hope that won't break everything. Oh but today I'm so stinking hungry tonight! This is going to be a challenge.

On the upside, I found some really good proteing drinks that I like. The Unjury Chicken soup is just as awesome - if not more so - than everyone says. And the Unjury Unflavored works well too. I did not like the strawberry sorbet. I ordered a sample package (11 individual packages) of Nectar products. They came today. I'm looking forward to trying them all. I really like the chocolate truffle flavor. I have "foods" to look forward to! I just hope my little one feels better soon...and that these two weeks fly by!

Finally Got My Date

Feb 04, 2012

So I finally got my date. My paperwork has been ready to be submitted since the end of November. At that point, the program manager said they were not submitting any more to insurance until after the first. This made little sense to me as my insurance doesn't do open enrollment until July, but whatever...I can roll with it.

Then in the middle of December the nurse called to tell me they were submitting my forms. Four weeks later - after Christmas and New Year's were passed - I called to check on my status. She said the computer said that the forms had been submitted or were in the process of submission and I needed to allow the insurance company 30 days to respond. Hmmm...okay.

Three weeks later I called to check again. She started with the same explanation until I told her what has been going on. She then went to physically check for my file. It had gotten lost under the stack of other patients and had never been submitted. She put it on the top of the stack and apologized profusely. I was more than a bit frustrated though. I had planned to have my VSG by February at the latest...and now it was just being submitted on January 27th.

In less than a week, the approval was given and now I have my date of March 5th. It's later than I had wanted it to be...I have plans in March and April. But I was about to give up hope that this was ever going to happen. So I'm excited...I can't wait to be on the other side of March 5th!
