Well today was my 1 wk. post op appt. Dr. Goyal said I am doing excellent. My incisions are healing up really well, I have lost 5lbs. since last wk. I will start Stage II diet on Mon. and can also start driving again. I can't wait, hate depending on someone to take me where I have to go and inconveniencing others as well. Atleast next wk. I can start going to the track and walk everyday after I drop my son off to school. Next post op appt. is in 3 wks. Until next time, everyone be Blessed!

Well, I am happy to say my surgery was done on 7/26 and it went wonderfully. My surgery time was pushed back to 2pm and I know when I woke up I was in recovery and it was a little after 7pm. My surgery went very, very smoothly. I still have no pain what so ever, so I am thankful for that. After recovery I was taken to my room where I rested in the bed for awhile. Then I got up and sat in the recliner and watched TV for about 40 mins. Got back in the bed and then out to the chair again. Around 4am I was up walking the halls and did 2 rounds. Came back and went to sleep for a few hrs. Thurs. I just rested and slept most of the day. Had to take the test to make sure there weren't any leaks. The fluid is nasty that you have to drink but its for a good cause. Dr. Goyal came around and said everything looked good so the catheter was removed along w/the heart monitor. So it was alot easier to move around but let me tell ya, when you feel the urge to go to the bathroom you best go b/c you will go on yourself b/c when it comes its gonna come on down. So I walked a bit more around the halls and went on back to my room. I finally got something to eat Thursday night around 9pm. I had chicken broth, gelatin, hot tea, crystal light and water. It may not seem like alot to eat but you won't be able to eat all of that, trust me....LOL So that was my Thurs. and then Fri. Dr. Goyal came in early and took out my drain, which hurt like hell for a few seconds. So they had to take some blood and that was it b/c the Dr. discharged me. The nurse came in and said the blood work was good and I could get dressed. She took out the IV and I went and got washed up and dressed and soon after I was wheeled out.

So that was my experience. I am home and still no pain, thank God!
Hope everyone has or will have a great experience like I have had so far. Just hope it continues to go this smoothly.

Well I am a 40 y.o. mother of 1 son. I am a very caring and loving person who is almost all the time the life of the party. I love to laugh and make others laugh. I am a God fearing person b/c w/o my Father up above nothing would be possible. So I always give my thanks to him first and foremost. I have been overweight all my life. I have tried working out, diets and weight watchers. In which I lost weight but later gained it back. So after alot of consideration, it brought me to WLS.

Thank God I don't have any co-morbidities and my energy level is good. I am active and can move around, walk, run and do what I need to do. I don't suffer from pains and aches. But I know I need to loose weight b/c at any time I can develop a ache, pain or sickness and I don't want that. I want to be around a long time for my son as well as to enjoy my life.

So after researching I decided to get the WLS. I am schedule for 7/26/06 at Overlook Hosp. I am excited and nervous at the same time. It was a simple and quick approval process for me much to my surprise. I have Aetna and they are supposedly kind of tough. I had to see my Dr. for 6 consecutive months but being I saw my PCP a few times I only had to see Dr. Goyal 4 times. Then by my 4th visit the ofc. submitted my paperwork and I was approved in June. I did my sleep study a few wks. ago and that was something. It was so cold in the rm. that I had to get 6 extra blankets to try and keep warm. The room was nice and had a private bathrm and tv in it. Needless to say, when I woke up I had a headache and earache. So I went on to work where I was still freezing. I later left and went to my PCP and had a 102 temp and swollen tonsils. So I had to get a antibiotic and I an now good to go. I go to see the nutritionist and pyschologist on Tues 7/25 and then I will be finish and at the hosp. on 7/26 @ 8:30a.

I have bought some protein and I also bought the sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks and Light Soymilk, broth, tomato soup and my vitamins and supplements. I bought the protien from Unjury but not sure I like it. I bought the canister of unflavored and the 5 pk sampler of flavors. But w/that you definitely need a blender. I will try it today and if it doesn't blend well I will be returning the canister. I want to try the Nectar from bariactriceating.com that seems to be a good one. So we shall see.
But the Carnation w/the soy milk is soooo good and it mixes real easy w/a spoon.

I have been following the soft liquid diet for the past wk. and a half and lost in total 9 lbs. since 5/30/06. So I am trying and now when I eat I only eat a little and I am full. Just trying to get myself and my brain in sync to the new eating habits. Oh, I also bought S.F. Jello and its actually very good.

So either today or tomorrow I will pack my bag for the hosp. so I will make sure I don't forget anything even though its not much to take. But I will keep all upated on my progress, downs, lows and highs.

God Bless everyone who has had and who are on their way to having surgery and being a loser.

Stay Blessed
Jenn
