Hi, my name is Heather and I live in Austin, Texas near Lake Travis. I have been married for 17 years and have no children. I am an Engineer and enjoy traveling, boating, reading (Sci-Fi), swimming (floating LOL) and beaches.
Close to a year ago, I started researching the lab-band process since I was approaching 40 and tired all of the time from being 100 pounds overweight. I had gained and lost 50 pounds for the last 10+ years and have been overweight most of my life and clinically obese since 1998 or 1999.
After extensive research, in September 2012, I went to one of Texas Bariatric Clinic's seminar's in Austin, TX and then met with Dr. Nilesh Patel. At that time, we decided the gastric sleeve was a better option for me due to my travel schedule, age, and reasons for obesity. Over the last year, I've gone through the 6-month supervised diet and some other medical testing necessary. I also was able to quit smoking and I've been smoke free since November 2012! It's taken me a while to navigate through insurance vs. self-pay. My Dr. ended up doing this surgery (which was rejected after appeals) in conjunction with a hiatal hernia, which was approved.
