William Sweet

"3/24/2000 I haven't met with Dr. Sweet himself yet. I did attend the first meeting tonight. Denise, who runs the support group, is great. Very informative and she has been through the surgery herself. I go to see Dr. Sweet's nurse on Tuesday. Hopefully I will have a surgery date then! 3/28/2000 - I met with Deb, Dr. Sweet's nurse. She is so nice! She spoke to me like I was a human being. Hubby was welcomed just as warmly! I have my next appointment on May 18, this time with Dr. Sweet himself. Hopefully I will get a surgery date then. The rest of the office staff (as well as everyone I have met at Reading Hospital) has been very nice. I only wish there wasn't such a long wait to get this done. 4/19/2000 - I met with Dr. Sweet yesterday. I have never met such an honest, caring Dr. He does not sugar coat the process. There will be pain, there are risks of death (he has had less than 1% mortality rate and a 0% leak rate, has never had a bowl obstruction and has never had a patients staple line burst - all this for 300+ patients), and you may or may not lose weight. Alot of it depends on you. He can be brutally blunt, but I appreciate the facts. I have total confidence in Dr. Sweet. I chose this doctor for several reasons. His patients all speak highly of him, he has a support group that meets regularly, and he gives tons of info so that the patient can make an informed decision. I would rate Dr. Sweet (on a scale of 1 - 10) a 9.9. No one is perfect! "
