I have been overweight all of my life. I remember being on my first diet at age 5. I was a victim of sexual abuse and my weight balloned starting in 6th grade and by the time I was in High School I was 80 pounds overweight. I lost weight as a senor which was the last time I was under 200 pounds.
I gained 30 to 40 pounds in college and continued to gain weight over the years. My highest weight was 352, whcih scared me, and I lost 40 pounds using a combination of hypnosis and dieting. I was able to maintain my weight for a decade or so, then went on Jenny Craig and lost 35 pounds before I got married for the first time a 49. Then my throid started to malfunction, and I was experiencing the joys of a hyperactive thryoid - so I was eating alot but did not have weight gain. Then I have my throid radaicated... and almost overnight gained 25 pounds!!! I have struggled to lose any of this weight. I have been hovering between 315 to 325 for about a year now.
I am lucky that my husband thinks I am beautiful and does support me getting Bariatric surgery.
This is first year my insurance is covering Bariatric surgery. I was hopeing to have RNY, but with the may get the Lap Band so that my co-pay is only $2000-3000.
I had my consult with my surgeons office on Jan 4, 2008... so I am waiting to find out what I need to do to get approved for surgery.
