4 weeks out

Aug 11, 2010

Hi everyone, just un update on how I am doing.  It is now 4 weeks since surgery and feeling great.
I took a small trip to DC over the weekend and did alright with food.  It's slow and steady and lots of water
to drink.  The only thing I wished I would have done differently is made an appointment with the naturist after
having surgery.  But It is never to late to do that so I will schedule an appointment within the next week.

I love the way my clothes are fitting, I know I have lost 28 lbs but, I really need to pay attention to the inches, it
will give me a true idea of how much I really have lost.

Well, for all of you out their good luck on the New You.

My Gastric Bypass Journey

Jul 27, 2010

My Journey started on April 12, 2010.  I had my surgery on July12, 2010, I was very lucky, because it was a Friday and so far I have had no complications.  Yea.  So far I have lost a total of 19lbs and in two weeks I should weigh 250 lbs.  My clothes are fitting better if not getting a little big.  Its OK though, I still have a lot of nice cloths that are 1 and 2x and anyway I am gone to enjoy buying a few new things along the way.    I had a wonderful Doctor is name is Dr Jon Bruce and he is located in Cary NC, just in case anyone is looking for a wonderful surgeon.

Now about the recovery after surgery, for those of you that are planning on having gastric bypass, make sure when you get home you have alot of broth on hand, jello, Popsicles bottled water it is easier to keep track of how much water you are drinking.  Oh I almost forgot, ice packs, first two days home from the hospital I had headaches and they were a life saver.  Next, if you can have someone stay with you for a couple of weeks that will do all the cooking and cleaning for your family, my mom was a life saver, she keeps the laundry done up and keeps the kitchen clean.

The hardest part about the surgery so far is, I miss eating salads and I am getting sick of soup.  Also trying to keep track of how much protein I am getting in, in a day.  I do realize it has only been 2 1/2 weeks and I will be eating the good stuff again in just a few weeks, just have to be patient. (not one of my favorite things to do)  I can say I don't miss the soda or the junk food, just miss the salads and breads.    Yes, I am doing the protein shakes that just a given, best way to get your protein.  Although I am eating eggs for breakfast already.  One is enough and little while later jello for a snack.  The thing that helps me the most with portion control is, I use a bowl that only holds a 1/4 cup of soup and for a plate I use a saucer, that why I don't over eat.  I guess everything is trial and error, you figure out  what your body will tolorate.

Well, good luck and remember we all did this for ourselfs not for anyone else.
