My story is similar to many of us on this website. I was a healthy child, but never considered thin. I put on about 20 pounds when I left for college and for the first time had total control over what, when and how much I ate. Thankfully, I'm tall (5'9") and that helped me to "hide" some of the extra padding (living in denial). I got married young and became a mother soon after. Although I was happy, I was also often lonely living the life of a stay-at-home mom when all my friends were still single. When I was awake at 2am with a fussy baby, cookies were there to keep me company. Eighteen years have passed since I was a young bride weighing about 20 lbs more than I wanted. The extra pounds crept on until I was more than 100 pounds overweight. How did I let this happen?
I've gone on a few diets over the years and I even managed to lose 50+ pounds more than once. The stresses of life would return and steal my focus. I had considered WLS several times over the course of a decade. When Weightwise Bariatric Clinic opened in my hometown, I attended one of their seminars and began what has so far been an incredible journey.
