I have been siting here all day like I am in a dream or something. Tomorrow is the big day I have to e at the hospital at 515.
Today hasn't been to bad, except going to the bathroom a lot. The castor oil was grose. I will keep you guys updated. I am ok I don't feel that nervous yet.

Today my surgeons office called me and said I was approved. I am having surgery on May 27th. He is scheduling me for Lap RNY. He doesn't know if it will change onece he gets in there or not. I was wishing it was sooner,but I am ok with this. It has taken over a yr. I have to go early that morning to have a filter put in because I have the factor V leiding gene (or however you spell it).

So today I went to see my GI doctor for a follow up on my Barretts Esophagus, which is a pre cancerous condition, that I have to have a scope for every 3-5 yrs and get biopsied to make sure everything is ok. So Heather is having surgery (RNY) next Thurs and she took me and we are getting anxious . I told him we were both about to have gastric bypass. He scolded me and told me not to do it. He said with all my gi issues I would be asking for more trouble.I asked him what to do and he said to get the sleeve. Well, the last time I checked with my surgeon supposedly there was a problem in PA with insurance approving it. He said it should be passed within a yr and that was in Aug. He told me that if I had RNY and I had any trouble with my stomach they would always have to operate because there would be no way to access it. He said I would end up with bleeding ulcers or possibly more problems.

Well, the good news is the Barrett's is ok and I don't have to have another scope for it for another 5 yrs. The bad news besides not being able to have surgery is the ulcers are back and that is why I have been having some trouble again. Gee I wonder why that is. I have so much going on right now and now I'm upset about the surgery. Now I have to go in a month to get another scope done I will go see Dr Monk on Monday to talk to him about the gastric sleeve. He did talk to Heather and I about it in the beginning, but I don't know much about it. I have done so much other research on Lapband and RNY that I am confused. Then when I came on here today to see pictures of people who have had this done nothing comes up. I don't know if my doctor does it or if I have to find another surgeon. I dont want to be his #1 or for that matter #30. I am more comfortable with someone who is experienced in this.

I dont know what to do

Today Heather got her date for surgery. She is having it next week the 21st. She has all kind of feelings. I understand a little how she feels because its not to long for me. I am excited for her. I am glad she is going first because then she will know what I am going through when it is my turn. We had dinner tonight at her favorite Olive Garden. It didnt agree with her and she said she is ready. She is tired of feeling this way after she eats. Shes excited about being healthy and thinner.

I go Thursday to get an EGD to make sure my Barrett's Esophagus is ok. Also I get fitted for my cpap machine on the 19th. I also have to get a filter put in prior to surgery. I am going to be a busy person over the next few weeks.

We went to the doctors yesterday. We have finished everything. All the doctors cleared both of us. They didn't have the results of my sleep study yet, but that is ok. Heather's Vit. D level was slightly low, but not like mine which is extremely low. He said a multi vit would be fine to take care of her. In my bloodwork they finally got the results back about my clotting factors. It was positive for having a clotting factor. Which means I could throw a clot at anytime, and during surgery I have an 8% higher risk of throwing a clot. He told me I have to go have a filter put in. They cut your leg like they would with a heart catherization and let the filter go into the Inferior vena cava. So I will have to have this done first. I don't know yet if it stays in there permanently or what. I also asked him about my adhesions that the surgeon who did my gallbladder surgery in Sept. said were a lot. He said yes it will make the surgery harder for him, but he will still do it. He said to make things easier would be to lose some more weight. I have managed to keep about 25 lbs off. He doesn't want to do our surgeries the same day. He wanted them to be at least a month apart. I fussed about it and he said at least 2 weeks. At first I said Heather could go first,but I think I should first so she can see wha t I am going through. She has desided to have the RNY bypass also.
We should know in a few weeks. They said it will be beginning to mid January

So Thursday I had to go have a sleep study done. I didnt like being away from home. Each night I have a hard time sleeping. So, I asked myself and the doctor of course. How am I going to sleep with all that stuff hooked to me when I have a hard time sleeping with no wires or anything attached. They called me in 2 Ambiens to take when I got there. It was a nice place and the bed was comfortable, but I missed my husband and dogs. They didnt say anything when I got up in the am, but they said someone would be in touch with me. Heather and I see the Dr on Wednesday. I cant wait. I made a big pot of chicken corn soup. I wonder if that will be something I will be able to have after surgery, There is nothing fatteng in it or anything I cant have.
Well I hope the test was ok. If not I will have to go back and fit me for a C pap maching. I hope not. I just want to get things over with soon.

So I finished all 6 months of weight loss classes and lost 22 lbs. I saw the cardiologist and had stress test done. I didnt like the test. They had to get my heart rate up to 153 bpm. While this was happening she decided to take my blood pressure. I thought I was gonna pass out. My mouth got so dry that the gum I had in it stuck to my roof and tongue. There was no spit left. I didnt like the way I felt afterwards and I was wiped ot the rest of the day and had to go to class at night. I passed it.
Then I went to my pulmonary appt. He set me up for an at home nocturnal occometer at home sleep study. Well today they called and said they want me to come in and do a sleep study. I didnt think I had sleep apnea. I don't sleep very well and the whole time I was doing that test I woke up constantly. If I rolled over I would feel the cord and wake up. Maybe thats why. We will see. I might have to postpone my appt with the surgeon a little longer because he wanted to see me after everything was finished. We will see. I will call the pulmonary doctor tomorrow. The only thing that worked for me was my psychiatry appt. He told me he was sorry for wasting my time, but everyone had to go through it as required by the state.
I wanted to have my srgery right after Christmas or the first part of the yr, but I dont know how much longer this will hold up.

On a lighter note. Everything seems to be going well for Heather, but we will still be doing this together. We dicided that if we cant get surgery the same day, then I will have mine first just in case there are complications and I have to stay longer.  Then she wont be left to do everything by herself, and I will be able to help her.
