Two Months Gone By..

Jun 25, 2008

Whoosh..its been a whirlwind.  The weight is coming off.  My MD said I was losing slower than many probably due to the resolving diabetes.  Slow is fine with me.  I am still tired some but feeling better all the time.
Not getting  enough water and protein I think.  The protein shakes are really starting to get to me. I look for excuses to avoid them.  I know that is wrong.
Anyway just a little update....

One Month and Days Post Surgery

May 23, 2008

Can't believe the weight is just falling off.  Albeit I am eating very little and still get nauseated but only slightly.

I hope by this time next year I'll be at my goal weight.  I still am tired at times but I think I am not getting in enough sleep and protein.  Its hard to get in the water as well.   Since I've gone back to work I've had a hard time with my food/drink schedule.

Release to Return to Work

May 08, 2008

Back to work on Monday.  I'll work two days then the annual camping trip.  My Caleb loves to camp.

Went to MD yesterday.  Things are going well.

Can eat soft foods now.  I still get a little queasy but all in all not bad.
I ran out of the unflavored Unjury protein drink so I have had a hard time getting all the protein in I need.  Hopefully I can manage until more comes in on Monday.  Other proteins made me sick to my stomach and I just can't take them.

10 Days since Surgery

May 01, 2008

Tired today.  Guess did too much last few days.

Protein drinks hard to get down today, but mission accomplished.

Down a few more lbs.

8 Days Since Surgery

Apr 29, 2008

Feeling pretty good.  Hungry a lot though.  Hope this will go away when I start soft foods next week.

Drank a protein drink too fast yesterday.  Felt a little uncomfortable but  that is only issue thus far.

Down 14 lbs since first day I showed up at Neweigh.

Down 10 since surgery.

Blood Sugar....mucho better....  Diabetes be damned.

My week:

Monday morning arrived at hosptial at 5:00 am for surgery.
9:30 wheeled into surgery (Terrified - What the HELL was I thinking!!!)
Later in the afternoon.  My friends assured me I was still alive and did well.
Early evening.  Up already.  They are trying to 'kill' me. hahahah.  Good pain meds.
Tuesday, drink, meds and walking.  3:30PM arrived home.
Tuesday night, crying (Terrified - What the HELL was I thinking!!!)
Wednesday - feeling better.  Meds, walk, sip, sleep, over and over and over
Thursday - more of the same.  Feeling mucho better.

P.S TV is hard to watch.  Never noticed how many food commercials there are... Geez...give a post op chubbster a break.....

Surgery on Monday 4-21-08

Apr 19, 2008

I am ready but nervous.  I feel I am saving my life but also giving up my support.  Food has supported me through so many tough things.  My mind tells me it will be fine but my nervous system is lagging behind.

I hope to get past this before the 'honeymoon' period is over.

I suspect tough times ahead but I got my little motivation (see my avatar), my great friends and God to get me through it.

God is good. Jesus is the driver's seat.

Weight Loss Permanent - Really?

Jan 06, 2008

I want to have surgery. I am told the RNY will cure by diabetes.  All the after effects worry me.  I am also thinking of the Gastric sleeve.  Although this is not a bypass surgery the weight loss it self should take care of the blood sugar problem.  I hope.  I am so confused as to what procedure to have, who to have do it and how to pay for it.

My personal physician doesn't want me to have surgery, nor do my friends.
I have to do something that will work in the long term.  I am 44 and have a 4 year old son and need to live a long time.

04-14-08

Its been a long road but I think I am ready.  I am ready to be healthier.  I am ready to feel better.  My surgery is next Monday 04-21.  I can't wait but am very nervous.

What the God leads you to, gets you through.
